i'm going free of charge and again for Slayer but I'm not looking forward to all the teens there. I am too old for immature shit that goes on at these "fests".
I am sure those time slots are going to be at least 1/2hr behind.
going to this...there will be much grilling in the parking lot

NO WAY would I pay but a friend of mine works for Comcast and will be going and he got my buds all passes so why not. I think there are $5 tickets because a few "posers" here at work (guys that are IN LOVE with kse and think they are the best metal band since Korn) got lawn seats for $5. I hope I don't bump into them. how embarassing.
i remember a time when people were excited to see slayer and cannibal corpse
i think its the layers of bullshit they're encased in that makes it undesirable
ya but on the other hand its less good bands i have to miss while i'm getting shitfaced in the parking lot. its actually a pretty sweet set up...dont even have to stay late cause manson's headlining and we can just go back out tailgate more

true. the fact that CC doesnt go on til 6:45 leaves plenty of time for pre-game and then only an hour to kill before slayer...not bad.
with ramppant teen eating disorders, this is like bikini fest. everyone just looks sticky. gross.
no white chapel (brokedown).
stemm took the stage. I think they had a blue and white cd out in the 90s. reminds me of jump the fuck up stuff like soul fly or chimaira. not really what I would choose to listen to, but he crowd was wicked active for them.
seeing behemoth at 2:30pm in the sun is weird. th souned mint where I was standing and played all songs I knew. I think they got extra time.
godforbid was great musically and the singer talked about fst cats nd the palladium, but he also asked the crowd to jump the fuck up.... wtf....

ha i was gonna go cuz my friends on tour with everyones fav killswitch
but hes off the tour this week so i couldent get in free:( oh well
i have math finals anyway just wanted to see slayer
im a little behiind cause my phone keyboard is dead.
all that remains did really well, they are uded to playing shows like this so it was to be expected.
jfac played really well. mostly hits. they started off with knee deep which weird. the stage was packed with local folks. deadbob (who hit me in the neck with something as I typed his name) is back stage too.
trivium is playing right now. the bassist keeps jumping into the crowf and disappearing for a song or two.
cannibal corpse's first 2 songs sucked so bad that I left the front of the stage. they were so boring. the sound was terrible. the 3rd song was a complete 180. they played fucked with a knife and it wss like a new band hit the stage. dear cc, drop the first 2 songs.

ok.. bullet for my valentine was kind of lame. not what I'm into at all. Then KSE took the stage and it would have be a typical set for them BUT THEN THEY HAD FIRE. that was really really hard to work with. I basically just machinegunned a ton of shots. I know I messed up, but we'll see.

HOLY FUCK I SAW THE GUY FROM GOD FORBID STANDING IN LINE AT THE WELFARE OFFICE TODAY.
this was a fun ass time... got smashed in the parking lot with ribs and brats then stumbled into see corpse - they were fucking killer btw hammer and strangled back to back? YES please.. bullet for my valentine allowed me enough time to destroy multiple portapotties KSE was fun to watch and then SLAYER dominated... easily their best performance out of the last 3 or 4 times seeing them. Daves drums were massive. manson can eat dicks for breakfast i just puked metalllll.
I had a good time at this show. A little burnt, but I wore sunscreen. Didn't pay for my tickets...in fact, I had an extra. Left after Slayer. Didn't drink too much because I am not rich, but I did sneak in a flask. Interviews with Cannibal Corpse, Black Dahlia, God Forbid, and Behemoth. All went pretty well.
Did anyone see that dude on the lawn in the tuxedo shirt with gloves on? The dude thought he was at a fucking rave. He was the man!
Final thoughts: Wearing an Anal Cunt shirt was a good call. Great way to meet people!
i was there saw the rev, from a far, also i think seeing slayer at lupos was enough they can still play but were sloppy at some points and bored.
mason sucks also, the show didnt sell too well.
also the sound on the jagger stage was horrible and it was too small why didnt just have one stage with a rotating drum kit?
there was some dude on heroin next to me passed out the whole time, also there was some old dude in a Hawaiian shirt totally fucked up dancing with his asian wifeu.
thank God I didn't end up going to this Hot Topic Queer Fest..only two bands worthy of seeing, white chapel and slayer, and speaking of slayer, how dows manson headline over slayer???? a DISGRACE,fuck this tour, fuck the comcast center. Every year it seems these " summer tours," end up with the same bands as last year, minus white chapel , is it safe to call this Sounds of the underground 2006 or what ever it was when TTEOTD played?!?!? lame

LOL @ Whitechapel being an acceptable band to listen to.

All I know is when I went to the Kreator show back in April THOSE were the kind of people I like to chat it up with. People wearing old school outfits, heh, well i guess that's cool but i'm too old to be lookin like that today. But i talked to young fans (who knew their shit) and old school thrashers wearing Holy Terror patches. I saw some of the most obscure shirts and patches that night. And the people knew what they were talking about, all respectful, easy going, just a grand ol time.
At this fest I will bet that 90% of the people are gonna be kids who have no clue about the history and culture of metal. Come on, people that listen to KSE don't even know much about Slayer or thrash metal. I work with a bunch of clowns who really do not like metal. They just like KSE because its catchy and they "think" its heavy and the "best" metal band right now. They don't even know one Slayer song.
again i'm going for free but i'm not looking forward to all the Hot Topic teens and the (literally) posers. My buddies all look like corporate monkeys but we all grew up on thrash and its still a big part of our lives, so to see these kids say KSE is the founders of "metal" or whatever it is they say about this trendy band, pisses me off.
i should just keep it to myself. I will say someone lead me to each KSE member's past band and I'm shocked that they play in such an ear candy, trendy band today.
we got stuck dealing with Guido Metal head losers (only thing missing was popped collars) they said they were there for KSE and hadnt heard much about Slayer or CC. One of them actually state "I cant wait to see B for V" - wanted to knock him out so bad.

Rev you disappoint no shots of Dave L. or Destructor.. You have a lense man! Use it..hahaha Good shots.
Sometimes the people on this site piss me off. Everyone is always ranting about how un-metal every band and tour is unless it's a band that played 30 years ago and is touring some dudes basement. I am fully aware of the history of metal and love it. I saw Sinister play the MET Cafe with Shadows Fall opening up...I saw the Cannibal / Angel Corpse Tour at the Living Room. I saw Suffocation / Dying Fetus / Overkill when Kevin Talley played drums for Suffocation and Fetus. To be honest, I would watch KSE any day over Composted that everyone here seems to love. That band is a far worse thing for metal than any of the bands that played yesturday. Who cares about what kid likes what band for what reason. Those dumb kids allow the other bands to benefit and actually make money to tour and play shows.
KSE makes corporate America lots of money. Most kids love to watch tv, kids love myspace, kids love trends, kids love mainstream radio, and kids are lazy. That's why they listen to shitty music. I have to break so many interns of these terrible habits that it's sad. I'm glad I decided to do college radio. It certainly opened my eyes!

I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you; someone was butchering a Dio song just now. What was that?
just my opinion that's all. i choose not to support bands like kse, b for my v, but if someone likes then fine. the issue i have is when kids are going out of their way to be a know it all and they don't even know the roots of metal, etc... they think this metal stuff started with KORN!? not all but just saying.
Holy Diver was made into a mockery, i doubt any of those guys like DIO as it was probably more of a business decision than anything else...
how do you know if they like Dio or not? i love how judgemental metal heads are these days. if you dont like it then dont listen to it. and as for all this bitching about kids being into the wrong music and not knowing there roots... do something about it. try making an effort educate kids as to the other music thats out there. there was a time when i thought Pearl Jam was the heaviest music available - was that Pearl Jam's fault?
I just hate the state of "metal" these days. And I'm powerless to do something about it other than bitch about DethKlok on rttp.
post by MikeOv at Aug 5,2009 4:16pm
I don't hate bands like KSE, All That Remains and Shadows Fall; I just don't really care about them . Once upon a time Massachusetts had Perpetual Doom, and I can live with that.
post by forcedtoBleed at Aug 5,2009 4:17pm
There will always be trends. The great thing about trends is they always die. I don't care who thinks they know more about metal than someone else. I don't care if some dude thinks Korn started metal and his buddies agree. I'll listen to my Terrorizer record and enjoy it because I like it. It cracks me up that people feel threatened by this. Everyone trieds to be more metal than everyone. I just like and live it for the reasons that I like it and always will. Nothing more nothing less
the key to listening and writing music is to do it for yourself and nobody else.
however, that doesn't mean I get sick to my stomach when I'm surrounded by brainless sheep who can't think for themselves. but eh, it's expected. at a live show, it totally kills the atmosphere for me. that's why I can't stand palladium shows anymore..
FWIW, I still keenly remember not being able to go to a real, actual (fast, no JNCO pants) hardcore band's show for a good 10 years or so, BECAUSE THERE FUCKING WEREN'T ANY. Just sayin' - a quick commercial boom followed by the inevitable loss of interest bust can really F a viable scene in the A. Granted, we have the internet now, which is a double-edged sword but at least makes it easier for the non-shitshow bands to find each other, but still.
anyone remember the slayer show in 01 or 02 when they played with AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE and everyone booed them off stage? that stuff doesn't happen anymore!
post by MikeOv at Aug 5,2009 4:31pm
I remember years ago when In Flames did that tour with Slayer, I don't know if that was the same show. My, how the mighty had fallen.
post by aril mobile finally at Aug 5,2009 4:42pm
I don't think it was that show although I do remember that one too. I just think it's funny how quick metal trends and fans change And I'm not even that old.

That one interesting show that in flames played was with dark tranquillity and kse. It was slightly before kse was very commercial but was when in flames had the white jumpsuits (gay). Dt slated that show to pieces
Nothing beats In Flames first MA appearance at the palladium upstairs. That was KSE's debut gig too, lucky bastards.
Fuck In Flames for having been so damn good at one point in time. Faggots.
I honestly think In Flames' downfall (as well as alot of other bands) is being heavily exposed to American heavy music...Soilwork and Lacuna Coil are two other bands that come to mind in that discussion as well
the cross pollenation of the American and Swedish (or Italian in Lacuna Coil's case) style do not mix
how about the sickest Nile show ever....upstairs at the Palladium where the crowd was soo sick Nile decided to play for like 2 hours and played all of Nephra Ka that was sick!

Was anybody at the Slayer show a few year ago at the Palladium when someone tossed a beer bottle at Tom Araya's head and the show stopped? "Control yourselves!!" haha

I want to say it was 2002. That's the only thing I can remember from the show other than being up above the stage to the right and standing next to an awfully ugly woman. Before Slayer came on the whole floor was yelling "Show your tits!" and I was yelling "You really don't want to see them!"

i wish i hadn't read that, i would give anything to see that.

i hope the sound is good, i've seen Nile once and it was muddy.

Does any one else remember the tour Nile played with Morbid Angel, Skinless and Dehumanized at the Met Cafe. I think it was on the formulas tour. It was so sick...there was about 50 people in the crowd. Trey jumped off the stage at the end of the show and was just hanging out with everyone at the bar.
post by forcedtoBleed at Aug 6,2009 9:33pm
oh man, also just remember the show with impaled at the met cafe where the dude lit his hair on fire. I think the tour was Impaled, Decapitated, Incantation and Vehemence . Oh the memories!
I had no solid opinion on Kill Switch Engage prior to this. I have even seen them a couple times and if anything I was bored. But I just checked out the embedded video from above. WTF? Are they having fun, or making a show and trying to portray an image that they are brutal but fun? It was painful to watch.
I feel as if this chick practiced posing for that exact picture. Not that she knew it was coming, but that her ass would be everywhere and needed the proper skirt to underwear ratio. And with good cause.

I remember that (I didn't catch your "You really don't want to see them" line, since I was down in the crowd, but I had roughly the same thought.) Slayer/Soulfly/In Flames. I fell during Soulfly and someone jumped on my ribcage. Amazingly nothing broke.
