Makes me hate the RIAA/MPAA even more than I did before.

I hate the "sharing music with others" argument. He just wanted free corporate music; which unfortunate for him, have lots of da money. I don't rip/download anything, I support bands, but I don't think it's very justified to be sued for it. A good smack across the face for his musical taste and stealing should do just fine or maybe digital castration of all downloads.

It doesn't matter what you think of pirating music, the sums of these lawsuits are fucking bullshit. The music industry is trying to regain profit from suing kids and it's bullshit.

Most of the people I know who DL music also buy discs they love, buy t-shirts, buy overpriced concert tickets and DO support bands. 4.5 million? Are you fucking kidding me? They're going to demolish this kid's life for the equivalent of getting a mix tape from a friend.

I could see suing for the amount of what you've taken with some legal fees, but anything more than that is abuse of the law.

I'm mostley guilty of DLing movies. I do download music but most of it is hard to find EP/Albums that I could never find at a record store.

I support bands too but I feel there is nothing wrong with downloading/sharing music.

Almost all the music I download I already have the CD...just too lazy to dig it out of my big CD box in the closet and rip it every time I have a major fail and all my music gets deleted because I'm too stupid to back it up.

What I'm more guilty of as well is borrowing CDs over the years to rip onto my PC. I do own alot of CDs but I must say I have a lot more in digital form than physical.
