Federal officials in Chicago said today a self-proclaimed leader of a street gang that allegedly uses violence to control punk rock music clubs in major U.S. cities was charged with extorting $5,000 from "a popular recording artist from the Chicago area."
Elgin Nathan James, who has been the subject of television documentaries, was arrested in Los Angeles this morning, the U.S. attorney's office in Chicago said. The charges against James were unsealed in federal court in Chicago.
Authorities allege James started the FSU street gang in Boston the 1990s to establish control over the punk rock scene there.
The alleged extortion took place when the undisclosed victim's band was on tour in 2005 and 2006, prosecutors said. It was an outgrowth of a dispute the victim had with a member of another band who also belonged to FSU, authorities said.
The victim was attacked in Boston and was told he could stop further attacks by making a $5,000 "donation" to FSU, prosecutors said.
James is scheduled to appear in court today in Los Angeles, according to the U.S. attorney's office.

the only thing is a member of fall out boy did some video footage for elgin james at somepoint. i'd think that'd mean they'd get along. it's also the only band that makes sense, too.

In 2006 Elgin moved to Los Angeles, California to work as a filmmaker. He wrote and directed the short film Goodnight Moon starring Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy), which was released by THINKFilm.

I think that devon's post is the only way to figure it out. then look to see if that band was also not on tour on 11/27/05. I thought that I proved it wasn't FOB cause they were on tour, but that was 07 not 05.
haha i will pull a move you pulled in a post that i found hillarious.
"Mest is a pop punk band from Blue Island, Illinois. The band's lineup, prior to their breakup in 2006, consisted of vocalist and guitarist Tony Lovato, guitarist Jeremiah Rangel, bassist Matt Lovato, and drummer Nick Gigler. They broke up in 2006 after an eleven year run, but reformed in 2008 with a new lineup, featuring only their singer returning for a final tour for people who missed the last one."
i saw mest, dont know why they played hell fest, but i liked them
the only reason why i wish this scum bag didnt get arrested is so he could order a hit on brokencyde.
