i didn't listen to the radio much, but wbcn was the station of choice.
this sucks

that is a bummer. More culture eaten by the economy.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 14,2009 10:07pm
wtf? patriots being played where now?

toggletoggle post by BoarcorpseJimbo   at Jul 14,2009 10:09pm
read the article silly. It explains that 98.5 will move to 104.1, and 98.5 will turn into the "sports hub" just in time for patriots season. I for one am kinda excited about an all sports FM station. Maybe celtics games will be static free now?

toggletoggle post by Pires at Jul 14,2009 10:34pm
WEEI in prov is on FM. Probably one of the best things about living in rhode island is an FM sports station. We also had 99.7 the score but that failed because EEI is so strong. I want this station to do well, trust me, but I don't it can hold a candle to the juggernaut EEI. It's one of, if not THE, highest rated sports stations around. But, as always competition is never a bad thing.

I'm glad Toucher and Rich are still going to be on the air, but this is pretty much the death blow to a classic ground breaking station and it just proves moreso that radio as a whole sucks and is in it's final breaths of a viable media.

ONE OF THE WORST FUCKING STATIONS EVER. When I was a kid they were pretty awesome cause it was all 70's rock. When they jumped ths shark and played all shitty alternative bullshit and got shitty morning show shit, they should have all committed seppuku.

agreed....even though they suck at talking sports

I hope they keep the format they have for their show now (minus the music)

weird cause I hope they and their family die from swine flu. I never get what I want

Swine flu isn't real hippy.

toggletoggle post by BoarcorpseJimbo   at Jul 15,2009 12:09am
well then you aren't real.... see, that's what you made swine flu feel like. hurts, don't it?

That's pretty much what they plan to do from what they've been talking about this morning. They made a valid point about how WEEI's morning show has pretty much become a political talk show, so why couldn't they just keep doingtheir own thing as long as the ratings are good.

Also Swine Flu is.......................the flu.................................................

Honestly I'm fairly happy about this. They contributed nothing but tons of bro rock.

MIX 98.5 is moving to 104.1, and a sports talk station will be in MIX's place, and they will play the Pats games as well as Bs games

LOL at their demise.

I didn't care before and now I definitely don't care now.

If WBCN came off to you as too much bro rock, then I'm afraid your head would explode if you listened to WAAF, Blue.

is WAAF still kicking up there? that was the "rock" station when I lived there about 9 years ago. Greg Hill still on their morning show?

yeah. Greg Hill is a raging repulican who doesn't even play music anymore, instead has several fake callers back him up on shit he's always wrong about. i hear jesse ventura went apeshit on him not that long ago, on air.

Greg Hill has to be the biggest douchebag in radio.

The only thing good about WAAF is Mike Hsu.

Both BCN and AAF suck donkey balls. If these stations would get rid of their 12 song only set list then maybe people would give a shit. I'm happy BCN is gone and eagerly await the downfall of AAF and ESPECIALLY HJY -those fucks make me want to melt my eyeballs with acid.

FACT
I've met him a number of times and he was nothing but the chillest guy and he knew his metal. I remember talking with him years ago when he was fighting the station management to do Harder Faster before they gave him a shot. Then the suits got their hands on it until it practically became a Roadrunner Records prerecorded promo show.

Ohh jeeze WAAF is the only rock station left? Man that's friggin terrible, now we have to deal with 90,000 bands that sound like rehashed versions of Nickleback waaaaay more.

I really hate Nickleback.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Jul 16,2009 1:08pm
even though BCN sucked, they were still better than AAF, that station was awesome in the early to mid 90's.

ZLX or GTFO.

i'm interested in seeing what is going to happen to EEI. I think EEI's fan base is too strong and this "sports hub" station won't really have much followers for a while. it could also start a word-war between boston sports people. Gary Tanguay is going to start a show on the Sports Hub. I'm wondering if EEI and all those douchebags are going ot be ripping on the new station and gary all the time now.

I used to listen to AAF and EEI all the time when I lived in boston and I liked both. BCN had stern for a while if I can remember and had opie and anthony after they got fired from AAF and got their syndicated show.

EEI was always a great station for sox talk.

I think this new station could hold it's own. It has a leg up from the start by being an FM station (wider reach and better reception) plus this new station will broadcast all Patriots and Bruins games. The talent could do alright. Toucher and Rich don't plan on changing much, which is fine because they are great as is and Dennis and Callahan have pretty much morphed into a political talk show anyways. The Big O show drives me crazy a lot. I swear if they got rid of the main hosts and kept their secondary guys (Smerlis, DeOssie, Marloni, ect) the show would rule and have less douchebags yelling dumb shit over each other.
