So, does Eyes of Noctum consider themselves to be Black Metal? There aren't even any tremolo riffs in their music. It sounds like a poor man's version of newer Dimmu, without the musicianship. There are more stop and go riffs than I can count.

That's awesome news. Speaking of xtra bass amps, BR just had it's first full-lineup practice yesterday, and it sounded amazing xcept for the missing bass. Won't have to worry about that live thanks to you. I'm super psyched to play this show.

in all reality, I'm not jealous by any means, although I can tell you how much of an insult it is to the hardworking musicians that don't come from that kind of money. this kid can have all the most well-known metal people work with him because a.) his real dad has the money and b.) his step-dad has the connections (and money now, I guess)
I will be at this show, supporting every band. I can bet you that I won't be inside the place during Eyes of Noctum, but I will at least attend the show. I'm 100% positive though that someone will make a scene or say something to poor Nick Cage's son.

yes, as a promoter of the show, tell people not to come so that no one shows up to watch the bands, and none of the bands get paid

My friend in Florida sent Lava Booking from SF my way which is a 40 year old lady that booked Defcon 4 out there, she is wicked nice, paid us, fed us out of the six people on a whole US tour. I hung out with the tour manager last night and they were siked about the show, I've talked to a few band members and they are siked to play Boston and I can assure you many good things will come out of this relationship. It's noone's fault to be born rich, at least he's not fucking hanging out at Rod Stewarts pool or some shit he's playing small clubs like Europa and shit doing what my band had to do, he's not doing any interviews that are more about his father than his band. They asked for pizza for christ sakes and very little money.
whatever to the whole bashing thing..I'm excited to play and interested in checking out all the bands. Robin is right, the dudes band is playing O'Brien's and I assume other clubs of the same size. I imagine if he wanted to he could have used connections or whatever and be opening up for popular metal bands on a big tour..
And about the whole born rich thing... I could honestly care less how much money he has, how much money he wants, or how much money daddy has. But sadly, the fact remains that because of the money involved, he skips all steps of being a humble musician, whereas humble musicians like myself and most of the people on this board work hard to get connections, pay for recordings of bands, or anything like that. You should know this, you work hard booking shows! But, that being said, more power to him. I wish him well with success.
BUT, one thing sticks out, and I quote him:

Not sure if he was throwing them in there as a main influence or what, but to state you like black metal from Norway then switch over to Cradle of Filth in the next sentence is idiotic. I personally have nothing against him or his band, and I plan on meeting him if possible. I'm a little wary on what I've heard about him and/or his band's music. But that could change... cya tomorrow.
I knew a girl from Dover who's dad drove a Lamborghini and had 6 houses across the country. They're not famous or anything, but they are rich as hell.... and that girl was one of the most modest, humble, and nice people I've ever met. To judge someone because of what they were born into is stupid, and speaks to one's character.
..That being said, I understand what Jim was saying. People suck, and WILL make judgments based on such things, but hopefully those people will not come to a blackmetal show in Alston... and if they do, it shouldn't be too hard for the rest of us to get them the hell out.

the same shit happened to rock n roll, then metal, then punk, then hiphop, then hardcore, get over it. all music looses it's roots.
wctl: they were cool. no guitar only bass with a bunch of pedals. reminded me of june of 44 and khanate mixed.
bone ritual: there was a track playing behind everything with weird growling on it. the first and second song sounded a lot like god flesh with satanic vocals. then they said they were going to do a von cover, but that sounded a lot more like von than the first two songs. also strep cunt's outfit always makes me think sith lord.
maybe my first time seeing close casket with out a keyboard player. they made up for the lack of guitars of the first 2 bands by having 2 of them. they sweetly ended with a iron maiden cover of killers.

I have a definite respect for nick cage. He did what 90% of your dads never did and stood in a bar with 50 people checking out your band. Also, there was a bro-pit raging around him and he just stood there watching the show. aces in my book.
Eyes of Noctum was pretty good. The singer needs to get a little more comfortable on the stage. I only say this cause he's statements were a bit rehearsed. The band was tight. The music was very dimmu-ish, but less symphonic. They got a killer response.
Yeah, I knock Nick Cage's acting in some movies to shit, but I give him a lot of credit personally for not using his family name so he could attempt to gain movies on his own merit.
Not easy to do when your father made several of the most heralded films in American cinema.
good show, good times. EoN was good at what they do. my honest opinion would say a few riffs had some breakdown-ish parts which didn't sound black metal at all, but they put on a show.
oh, shit. i left at the start of EoN's 3rd song and missed EATEN. :-( bummer; i love that song and Bloodbath. i'm sure it was their best song of the night too. ... :-)

I tried getting into Black Metal for years, i'm not totally ignorant of it. I like some Absu, Emporer, Venom...not much else. How do I appear butt hurt? I thought it was stupid that people said he hadn't paid his dues, but the guy was playing Obriens for fucks sake! that was my point. And it wouldn't be RTTP if there wasn't random insults thrown about
