New site? Maybe some day.

finally, after searching for this album for the last 10 years i was able to find one. i randomly came across it at Newbury Comics in Shrewsbury yesterday, i almost fell over when i saw it. this album is a monster, i have always heard about it but have never found one in either the store or on Ebay, at least one that is reasonably priced on Ebay. the sorrow is so thick on this album it turns your blood to sludge. essential for any funeral doom fans, this is where Evoken learned to do what they do. the best song is "Elemental". |
Album is GODLY.
(Though they took their name from a Thergothon song, I think Evoken sounds a bit more like diSEMBOWELMENT. But yes, the influence is there.) |
Evoken sounds like a cross between Disembowelment, Skepticism and Eyes of Ligeia, in my view. Both Thergothon and Skepticism are of the gods. |

Both Thergothon and Skepticism are of the gods. |
Let the truth be told. |
All good stuff, but nothing compares to Black Mass of Absu. |
Skepticism - Stormcrowfleet took me a while to get into but over time its genius bloomed in my head. |
As far as I can tell, Skepticism have never shipped a bad album. |
Can't wait to hear the Thergothon tribute coming out soon. Evoken covering "Yet the Watchers Guard" is going to be colossal. Just went back and listened to Fhtagn-nagh Yog-Sothoth and the demo version of Elemental destroys the SftH's version. |
I bought this a few years back and listened to it a bunch of times. I remember being very happy with it and the keys on it are creepy, reminiscent of the keys often heard on the French legions stuff. |
