just one more thing chiseled away. i don't smoke, never have, never will, but i think this is ridiculous. just like banning smoking at bars and clubs in Massachusetts.

oh yeah......and Rich Bova makes Oroku Saki look like a bitch.

Less nicotine in cigarettes = MORE PEOPLE BUYING MORE CIGARETTES. Fuckwads.

"just like banning smoking at bars and clubs in Massachusetts."

Best law ever.

Haven't read about this new stuff yet, but banning smoking in clubs FTW. When they ban smoking outside, then I'll sympathize. Until then I'd rather not have burning eyes and have my hair, clothes, camera bag, etc smell like fucking ass just so other people can smoke.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Jun 12,2009 12:58pm
see i don't think it should have been a total ban. it should be at the discretion of the club/bar owner, or they have to apply for a cigarette license just like a liquor license.

Totally agree, Bar owner fucken ownes the place. Its his property so its his right to do as he wishes.. For you complaining sons a bitchs that made it the way it is, thanx, fucken thanx... Your all Peices of shit. We could have all agreed to disagree,.. nonsmokeing bars,, smoking bars,...but noooooooo...!!! I got to have my cake and eat it too. Go fucken hug a tree.... SHIT!!!! Wahhhh I have to walk 5 feet and go outside to murder myself waaaahhhhh

And NO bar owner would opt-out of smoking. Not a single one. C'mon now.

Also: waaaahhh

funny thing is, i don't smoke, and never have. i know, no bar owner would have a non-smoking bar, but i like the idea of the option. its not so police-state.

Im not saying its a police state, its just every few months theres more and more and more laws... Like i said, the more steps the better, shur are not back traking... Just more and more shit on our plates every day... Well im fucken full, and want to go on a hunger strike :p

toggletoggle post by pam   at Jun 12,2009 1:24pm
I should not have to breathe in poisonous smoke because I want to see a band play. That is a right to not be harmed. If a guy next to me wants to eat a box of Twinkies, I shouldn't have to also eat a box of Twinkies.

A police state would mean you do not have the freedom to murder yourself. You do...you just don't have the option to murder ME.

And I smoked for 8 years, I never felt entitled to plop down next to knocked up women and shit and make them breathe smoke. Some people are just retarded, entitled, and assholes. Keep your shitty health choices to yourself.

About 90% of people who attend shows are smokers and I appreciate places that don't allow smoking inside. Second-hand smoke sucks and I don't want to be around it. I've been around smokers my whole life but it doesn't mean i like it.

It's not really a big deal to have to go outside to smoke. Stop crying, you pussy.

There is. Bar owners can open up a pleasant area outside for people to enjoy their cigarettes. There's a few bars I've been to that put up fences so you can even take your beer with you. Does it suck in the winter? Sure. Do I feel bad? Nope. Freedom stops when other people's freedom ends.

I understand your point but the reality is that not a single bar would have changed anything. People hang in crowds of smokers and non-smokers.

Why isn't it OK to drive drunk? Because you'll kill yourself? No...because you'll kill other people, who did not make a stupid decision. Should non-drunk-drivers just stay off the roads like non-smokers should just stay out of bars? Bullshit.

I don't know a single smoker that quit going to bars because they couldn't smoke, so really...it's not hurting the bar owners. It's improving work conditions for their employees, most likely decreased their fire hazards and leaves them the option to boast something like a nice outdoor lounge over their competition.

I smoke cigarillos only when drunk or when I'm about to do vocals live, but the only time I don't mind cigarette smoke is at metal shows. I'd rather not be around it when I'm eating lunch and stuff like that, but for metal shows it just adds to the grittiness and atmosphere of being at a metal show.
that being said, smoke away people, it adds to the experience.

I agree with it in the sense that it's at least a state-by-state decision. When I was in SC they allowed smoking in bars, and there was only one I went to that wasn't ventilate well and it was a huge difference than being in a bar up here. Enough to the point where I thought it was a bit much, even being a smoker. I certainly don't mind having to go outside for a cigarette, especially if it's a bar like Ralph's that has an outside area where you can bring your drinks.

lol, people actually need to be continually told that cigarettes are A) Not only bad for your health, but B) There is no such thing as a safer cigarette? I really don't want to believe that the U.S. is that stupid. No one forces people to support Tobacco companies, people make that decision themselves. The government regulates, and implements the laws. "You can do this, you can do that, but not that." People have been smoking tobacco for thousands of years, it's wasn't a new commodity that someone thought up and exploited the masses with. I don't smoke cigarettes but I remember when restaurants had a designated smoking section, and I thought that was perfectly fine. Maybe some day those twinkies you mentioned will be taken off the food shelves for being harmful to your health, because after all, the government is looking out for your best interest.

1. Yes they do.
2. Yes they are.
3. The laws include false advertising and intentionally misleading the public.
4. The tobacco people smoked for thousands of years is lightyears away from what people smoke now.
5. Twinkies and cigarettes are fine by me, you obviously missed the point of that analogy. If some moron wants to eat/smoke themselves to death that is their right. In fact I hope more people exercise that right. However I have the right to opt out of those things, not have them blown in my face/shoved down my throat.

All I'm sayin. Do whatever you want, just don't make me fuckin do it too.

I find this bill to be pointless. I've always felt that the main reason people smoke has little to do with the amount of nicotine in each smoke. It's an oral habit and this bill will have little to no effect on people that smoke. There's still the same amount of shitty chemicals that are gonna give you cancer and if anything, people are gonna just smoke more as stated by kadoog above. Yay sin tax.

Banning smoking in bars and clubs is one thing, but this bill isn't about that. it's about the government illegally regulating non-government industry and dictating what is proper for a company to market... Think Cuba, Soviet Russia, etc.

completely unconstitutional, illegal, and immoral.

Obama can fuck himself. Why is he so worried about people dying from smoke-related illness but has no concern for soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (Iran, Lebanon, and Syria soon)?

Why does he care more about spending government money to stop US children from smoking and spending government money to help israel bomb children's hospitals and elementary schools then our soldiers or the value of our money?

This man does NOT and never had the interest of the middle class American citizen in his agenda.

and the very people he is working so hard to reduce their standard of living voted for him.

Obama needs to take a long walk off a short fucking plank.

That's clear, but who does?

The media doesn't seem to.

Socialist politicians make their bread by antagonism against those who have more than others, so they're opposed to the middle class especially the upper half (above that magic $138,500 yearly income figure).

Republicans are in disarray, when they're actually in a position of strength. Sounds like they listened to the wrong groups when picking strategy.

The greens are oblivious.

Ron Paul wants to try capitalist anarchy instead, which would solve some problems. But then the selfish side of consumerism would really rage, and that scares the crap out of most people.

Communism is obviously a big fail, being socialism taken to an extreme.

Anarchy is for people who don't think carefully.

Where to?

On the plus side:

Overpopulation is setting up the next range of conflicts and water/food wars.

USA is swinging to the right as the remaining sensible people -- who are always a minority -- see what havoc the Obama has wrought.

Europe is also seeing slow and steady gains in the far-right as it ditches the skinhead outlook and focuses on actual blood and soil nurturing.

After a long dark time of idiots being sponsored by the excess wealth of the industrial age, we're seeing that fade by big factors not temporary ones.

Now what is needed are coherent statements of the failure of modern society.
