This absolutely fucking rules. I'll take it over wank-arpeggio Dream Theater tech faggotry any day. Been on a total death metal kick since MDF and I keep going back to this.

Why Swedish -- does it have a guitar tone reminiscent of a bumblebee trapped in a coffee can (Entombed, Dismember, etc.)?

It does have that tone to a degree. I, for one, think that tone is pretty fun. Unlike a lot of Swede death metal, this has some serious thrash influence. I can dig it.
