I'm playing with the idea of selling one of my 6-strings to help fund a new amp that I've had pretty intense GAS for, and this is the one that has the least sentimental value to me, although I still really don't want to get rid of it, because it's such a nice guitar and sounds so awesome.

It's a bolt-on with a non-recessed Takeuchi licensed Floyd Rose, and I believe it to be Class Axe era (late '80s, basically). If I decide to sell it, I'll be putting the stock pickups back in it.

The neck is maple, with a rosewood fingerboard. I believe the body is alder. 25.5" scale length.

Right now, I just want to get an idea of how much I can expect to get if I decide to sell it. I was thinking of maybe $500 as a starting price.

I also have a hard case for it that appears to be original.

I love pointy guitars.

I, on the other hand, do not.

^this.

The thing just looks cool, man. What do you play?

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at May 28,2009 2:46pm edited May 28,2009 2:46pm
1974 Gibson L6-S

I do have a BC Rich Mockingbird from earlier days. Neck Thru series, too. But I really neglect that thing. Kind of a shame, actually.

Was that directed at me? I'm in Shroud of Bereavement, so as far as current bands go, I play death/doom. My biggest personal influences, though, are more in the realm of power metal.

Edit: never mind, I missed the context...got it now.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at May 28,2009 2:52pm
Yeah, now I'm not sure if this was directed at me. didn't meant to hijack this thread at all. Hope you get a buyer.

Can I ask what amp you're looking to buy?

toggletoggle post by WarriorOfMetal   at May 28,2009 2:54pm
I'm looking to get a VHT/Fryette Sig:X. I basically need to sell a guitar and my VHT Deliverance 60 (in that order) to get it.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at May 28,2009 3:01pm
I fully approve of that amp.

toggletoggle post by WarriorOfMetal   at May 28,2009 3:06pm
Me, too. I love the Deliverance, I just like the idea of the ability to do a little bit more with that same basic sound, on the fly. Not to mention having a little more gain would help for parts of a couple songs.

Having heard SoB, this is really interesting. Power metal like Blind Guardian?

The axe is also beautiful. A lot of people don't like pointy guitars. I understand, but I think pointy guitars are part of the metal experience.

That is also a beautiful axe. The classic Gibsons are amazing in tone too.

I'll agree with that. My personal tastes have led me far enough away from metal that I don't have a taste for the aesthetic for myself anymore.

I do, however, think that for certain styles of music aesthetic shouldn't be ignored. There should be some respect to the fact that music is also entertainment.

Warlocks are definitely a landmark image in metal. People who don't know anything about metal would know what kind of music that guitar is for.

Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, Nocturnal Rites, Persuader, Outworld, Beyond Twilight, Nevermore, etc. I'd say I'm relatively well-rounded as far as metal goes, though...I've got a decent amount of albums from most subgenres. I also love classical music...Mahler's 2nd Symphony is the greatest piece of music ever written, IMO.

I'm interested but am saving money right now. The only possible thing I need right now is a coffin case for my Bich

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jun 5,2009 10:06am

toggletoggle post by WarriorOfMetal   at Jun 5,2009 10:29am

Interesting. Seems like a varied approach to metal and classical. More of a Bruckner fan than Mahler here, but I understand what you mean.

Regarding the guitar... I'd love to buy it, but my family will kill me.

Heh. Naw, I'm more of a hang out with the family, then head into the brush to go blast stuff with shotguns, consume intoxicants, and otherwise cause problems with friends.

Texas women > *, however ;)

I have been kind of intertwining the old and the new. My main guitar right now is a Fender Jaguar Baritone. I was playing through a Music Man HD-130 for a bit, then a V4, and I'm going to be playing out of a suped up JCM800 soon. I've been putting hotter pickups in my Jag to overdrive the preamp tubes. I feel like I have this crazy hybrid right now.
