Just getting back into this myself (we used to keep tanks when I was a kid). Anybody else into worrying about chemicals and ph and sucking fish shit water? I just picked up a 10 gallon "rescue tank" (somebody got bored and didn't clean shit for a few months) with a banded rainbowfish, a single black skirt tetra, and a synodontis catfish. Got it relatively cleaned out, now - it looked like they let the plants overgrow for a while, the algae went nuts, and a bunch of fish died and were just left to rot. Probably gonna get some more tetras so that one doesn't keep trying to shoal with the rainbowfish (who keeps getting pissed and chasing it around the tank).

maggot's big into fish. I have my turtle tank which I will try to take pictures of. I also have a 40+ gallon breeder tank and want to do something with that. only think is that the double light and cover for it is $168! I have an extra canister filter that I can use on it too. hm... I just keep swapping between salt tropical, salt local, fresh tropical, fresh local. the turtle is already sort of fresh local. there are goldfishes and a crayfish in there with him. I also have a 55 gallon rubber pool that is growing duck weed.

Our 24 gal display tank slowly mutated from tropical to New England - my brother and I kept bringing shit home. Sunfish, frogs, turtle, crayfish, etc. The friggin' algae eater and a few others just wouldn't die, though.

Yeah, my folks have one that lives in the goldfish pond - he's probably a good 14" long. Those goldfish get the fuck out of his way when he decides to move.

i used to be crazy into fishkeeping. i ran the largest privately owned aquarium in new england (15,000 gallons). I really wish I still did.

Funny - I was regaling my GF's uncle with my tales of fish-keeping adventure, yesterday. He was markedly unimpressed; he feeds the fish in the big tank at New England Aquarium, so I guess my 10-gallon isn't all that awesome. LOL

haha. its funny how elitist fish keepers get. i still think little planted tropical tanks are really cool even after raising sharks and piranhas

im all about the plants and coral. i have a breeding pair of angelfish but im too lazy to set up another tank to seperate the other fish in there and as soon as they can swim them babies is food. i had some redbelly piranahs but they were boring as fuck. my favorite fish ive had was a butterkoferi cichlid. what a DICK. i need another one of them.
