I just realized that the tank filler neck (I believe that's what you call the thing you actually put the gas pump into) is not connected to the body of my car. Put it this way, when I pump gas, the spout where I put the pump into is not connected to my vehicle. It rattles around when I drive and hit any bumps. Anyone know what the hell it's called and where I can get the rubber surround that fits around the gas cap to make it stop? For the love of God I have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm a 27 year old man with almost 0 car knowledge.
Gas tank filler neck. Pretty sure you can replace it without doing the whole tank. Call up autozone and say you need a Filler neck for your car.

But it's not the filler neck that is the problem, it's the lack of a gasket, or whatever you call a rubber donut that would go around the spout, that keeps it from rattling back and forth. Otherwise the whole system is fine. My guess is that I could wrap a rag around the thing and it would be fine but I'd really rather get the correct part.
