FUUUUUUUUUCK YOUUUUUUUUUU JETS!

Oh shit. Bears are coughing up at least 2 first rounders and Kyle Orton (wtf) for Cutler and possibly a draft pick.

lulz crybaby is baby

I think the cliche "careful what you wish for" applies here....AMIRITE?

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Apr 2,2009 6:12pm
my god if that's true, Chicago got severely shafted

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Apr 2,2009 6:17pm
I don't know if I would have gave up 2 first rounders for Captain Diabetes, but he's a solid quarterback and I'm interested to see how the Bears build their offense around a guy with his abilities.

Minnesota and Green Bay are probably shitting bricks right now. That division just got interesting.

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Apr 2,2009 6:19pm
2 first rounders for anyone not named Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, or Adrian Peterson (not the one from Chicago) is too much IMO

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Apr 2,2009 6:22pm
No care. He's not in New York, and that's good enough for me. JETS SUCK.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Apr 2,2009 6:24pm
Bears just signed Orlando Pace too.

See what I'm sayin

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Apr 2,2009 6:44pm
Pace is over the hill...future Hall of Fame left tackles don't get cut solely for cap reasons

yeah, he didn't look too good last season. players like him are rare, so they don't get cut unless they're not productive anymore.

I'm going to miss the Jay Cutler v. Phillip Rivers drama twice a year. Quarterbacks usually aren't as ready to throw down as those two were.

i agree. i don't know if there's another player in football aside from those 3 that i would trade two first rounders for, unless my team was one great player away from being a near-lock for the superbowl.

toggletoggle post by MillenialKingdom  at Apr 2,2009 8:28pm
I really didn't expect this at all. The Bears will still suck though.

You'll see plenty of it in the Bears v. Chargers in superbowl XLIV.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Bears send Denver Klye Orton and two first rounders (one this year, the other in '10) for Jay Cutler and a 3rd round pick.
The Bears need a good quarterback BADLY, but that might be too much to pay. Plus, the Broncos could fuck themselves if Orton blows this season and they have to do even more rebuilding, which those draft picks will be even more important.

toggletoggle post by The_Revealer at Apr 2,2009 10:27pm
The Broncos need to put a package together to move up and draft Mark Sanchez. They HAVE to draft Mark Sanchez.

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Apr 2,2009 10:29pm
Sanchez might be there at 12....who knows though

toggletoggle post by Dankill at Apr 2,2009 10:30pm
I bet San Fran drafts him at 10

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Apr 2,2009 10:34pm edited Apr 2,2009 10:34pm
....OR they could use their pick from the Bears (18) to draft Josh Freeman....he'll be there unless Tampa trades up

toggletoggle post by MillenialKingdom  at Apr 2,2009 10:37pm
If Denver is going to have any chance of being a good team with Orton starting, they HAVE to draft defensive tackles or nose guards.

Let's consider the important issue...

If the Lions take Stafford at #1 (which it's seeming like they will), and between the 49ers, Bills, Jaguars, and Broncos the other 2 1st round QB's get eaten up before the Jets get to pick then L....O.....L.

toggletoggle post by Dankill at Apr 3,2009 7:41am
I wonder if BJ Raji is gonna drop in the draft after they said he tested positive for some sort of drug during the Combine. He had already tested for weed once during college.
I have one of the BC football coaches come into my barbershop for haircuts. Good guy who can talk good football and isn't shy to talk about the inner workings of the program and college ball in general. He said Raji is without question a total run stuffing ANIMAL. He has no doubts about his ability to kick so much ass in the NFL.

I could see all of those teams drafting a QB, but I could also see all of them completely go for someone else. Although they're all subpar QBs, I could see all of those teams not giving up on Alex Smith, Trent Edwards, David Garrard, and Kyle Orton respectively.

It seems like Raji's stock has been rising and rising lately. I heard the Lions were even considering him with their #1 overall pick. The dude sounds like a beast, but yeah depending on how this drug thing plays out it might knock him out of the top 10. There's still a history of players who test positive for drugs being drafted high....by the Lions.

that's way worse than roids and weed. he'll be an overhyped player who doesn't play with any effort.

i didn't realize the bears got a third rounder in the cutler deal. that makes the trade less horrible for the bears.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Apr 3,2009 10:18am
The Bears didn't get a third rounder they gave up one.

The final word (that I've heard) on this is:

Bears gave up a first and third in 2009, plus a 1st in 2010, plus Kyle Orton.

Broncos gave up Jay Cutler and a fifth rounder in 2009.

Big big gamble for the Bears, but I'm rooting for Cutler to stick one up McDaniels ass with a great season this year.

mcdaniels has to be pissed that he missed out on matt cassel and has to rebuild with a question mark at qb.

hahahaha, what a sniveling bitch cutler is.

from si.com's truth & rumors section:

Cutler already has issue with Bears coordinator?

Jay Cutler goes to a Bears team whose trademarks have been a strong defense and strong running game. Bears coach Lovie Smith also has the type of calm, soothing manner that may well suit Cutler, who clashed with McDaniels. However, Cutler may have an issue with Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner. Coming out of high school, Cutler thought he had a scholarship to the University of Illinois, where Turner was the head coach. Cutler has said Turner pulled the scholarship late in the recruiting process, resulting in his going to Vanderbilt. The Bears were Cutler's favorite NFL team while he was growing up in Santa Claus, Ind.

i hope we get to have that laugh at the jets. i think the lions would be stupid to take stafford over one of the highly-rated offensive linemen available. Linemen are usually a much safer pick and there are way less busts. for every tony mandarich, there are a shitload more QB busts. calling the lions stupid is stating the obvious though.

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Apr 3,2009 11:02am
if the Lions were logical (obviously a HUGE stretch), they would given the Pats pick #20 for Cassel

but as it stands right now, if they take Stafford #1 and a OT with #20 (Michael Oher, Will Beatty, Eben Britton might all be there), it'd be a step in the right direction IMO

if they stand pat at QB this season, they'll go 0-16 again

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Apr 3,2009 12:00pm
I'm blown away that the Lions couldn't parlay any of their 3 picks in the first 33 selections into a trade for Matt Cassel or Jay Cutler. I think you need at least a little bit of infrastructure before you decide to bring in a franchise rookie quarterback.

The Lions are stacking themselves up for another couple years of dismal failure I think.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Apr 3,2009 12:03pm
if the new lions braintrust is smart, a couple more dismal years might make them an awesome team if they use their picks wisely and develop good players instead of taking shitty wide receivers in the first round every year (calvin johnson is the exception).

Lions braintrust oxymoron LOL.

The Seahawks are rumored to be going after a quarterback in the draft. Hasselbeck is on his last legs.

If any of that is true.......BIG implications for the draft as all of them are projected as first round guys and Cushing, Matthews and Davis most def on the Pats radar.
