Come on, we all know 6 was amazing. There really is no FF like it but 10 was really REALLY good. 7 is also awesome. 12 was like playing an MMO with a plot. And 13 will be amazing.
I will go ahead and say that 50% of the world's great RPG's came out on Super Nintendo, however.

I can't speak for 13 and only saw 12 once.

I'm sure they are good games (being squareenix and all) but character design has sucked since Cloud. Vivi? Fuck that shit.
The characters in FF6 are way more realistic than any of the other ones, and they also don't look as corny as the other games.

Let's just say all FFs are good. But 6 takes the cake. Music, gameplay, design, story, characters, items, inspiration, everything.
