Grandma Attacks Man With Frying Pan In Standoff
BLUE SPRINGS, MO. - A grandmother was stabbed and three people were held hostage in a standoff in Blue Springs, Mo., on Monday night at Autumn Place Apartments.
Police responded to a call around 5 p.m. when a woman's ex-boyfriend, the father of her baby, got inside her apartment at 1400 Northwest Candletree Drive and allegedly started beating her. The woman, who is 17 or 18, lives with her nine-month-old, her mother, and current boyfriend.
Police said the 39-year-old grandmother hit the ex-boyfriend with a frying pan and he then stabbed her in the shoulder. She managed to escape by crawling to the management office of the apartment complex.
When police arrived they said the ex-boyfriend, armed with a knife, had his ex-girlfriend, their baby and the current boyfriend all held hostage inside the apartment.
Police were using a Spanish interpreter to speak with the suspect, and as they tried to send in a phone, they got their break when the mother flung open the door and ran outside with her child in her arms.
Police then ran inside and tackled the suspect. Inside, they found a lot of blood and a large kitchen knife.
Police found the current boyfriend hiding in the bathroom. He was handcuffed and taken by police to answer further questions about what happened.
As for the grandmother, her injuries are not life-threatening.
