My son who is 13 is looking to go to his 1st death metal/grind show. within the next few months or so. Anyone have any tips on shit coming up that is all ages for him. Like father like son! He takes after his old man. Thanks for any tips. I know there are a lot of great local acts, so that might be a good show for him to start with. Thanks again for any info/help.

HMMM, not to sure my son would be into that show, although I would. he is really into the style of death/grind and goregrindy shit. he is still a bit young, so he is into cannibal Corpse, obituary, and yes, COMPOSTED & BOARCORPSE! I think he needs to see some local shit 1st. he is into some local flavor of COMPOSTED AND BOARCORPSE too! I am kind of aiming for a local show to start, but i really cannot do anything until maybe the middle of next month.

no i think it's fucking awesome. just don't be upset if your son listening to heavy music is just a fad. I grew up listening to Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd. My parents brought me along to a ton of Dead shows and other random hippie fests, and i've seen Roger Waters with them a couple times. But when i got old enough i discovered other music and moved on. They support what i'm into now which is cool. But i would think it's pretty common for kids to listen to the same music their parents do just because that's what theyre exposed to. And then when they start to break out of their shell and meet new friends their tastes might change.

It's tough to say with him being 13. I don't know you or your son at all but i'd bet he's got some wild years of maturing ahead of him. When i look back i'd say 13 or 14 was the age when i first started having my own personality and started finding out what i liked and didnt like.

...come to think of it, i'm pretty sure i was 14 when i went to my first metal show. I just wonder if i would still listen to the same music if my parents were into heavy stuff or if i would listen to something else just so i wasn't like them.

i think it was more a joke than a jab, since its an obvious take on dying fetus - kill your mother rape your dog. maybe the language/humor slant is a bit askew since he's from france, and even though he speaks english it takes a long time of living in a society to pick up on the cultural nuances.

as for your son's first show, NEMHF day one looks good, since the suffocation tour is coming through on it and theyre bringing psycroptic and decrepit birth along with them.
