N.W.A. Gets a Biopic
Ice Cube to produce Straight Outta Compton.

March 9, 2009 - The Notorious B.I.G. and Eminem aren't the only rap icons to get the big screen biopic treatment. It looks like the seminal rap group N.W.A. will soon get a feature film as well.

According to Entertainment Weekly's Hollywood Insider blog, New Line Cinema is developing the biopic Straight Outta Compton. "The project will chronicle the rise and fall of the rap quartet, founded by Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and MC Ren, whose songs were so incendiary (i.e. "F--- tha Police") they were banned from radio playlists but still sold millions of albums. Then came the inevitable fiery breakup, a grudge match between the former bandmates, and Eazy-E's tragic death due to AIDS," EW reports.

Straight Outta Compton will be produced by Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and Tomica Wright (Eazy-E's widow), and the production company Circle of Confusion. The hunt is reportedly on for a director of the caliber of 8 Mile's Curtis Hanson.

Hell yeah. I'm young but you have to respect the architects. Not really a bad moment on that record. Well maybe, "Somthing 2 Dance 2" that song is terrible.
