Southern Lord Records has announced the signing of Chicago, IL instrumental band Pelican. The group is currently at Red Room Recording (Minus The Bear) in Seattle, WA recording an EP. According to guitarist Trevor De Brauw, "the new material promises to be heavier, darker and very riff-oriented." Additionally, a guest guitarist "who has been heavily influential to the band" will appear on the effort. Meanwhile, this spring the group will begin work on their fourth album.

i really wanted to like this band... the album i got was boring as fuck though. i generally like that style of music too.
