You get a job like this by having connections and a good resume. Apparently when my resume was delivered by my connection (a cousin's uncle), the job was closed since there were over 400 applicants. But, they were impressed so I got an interview last Wednesday. Baddabibg baddaboom.

Check the employment section of www.amtrak.com regularly and you might be able to find something.

Oh I definitely am. But, I'll be under tremendous pressure at all times during the job, so it's definitely work. I found out even better information at the interview though, so I got no worries.

I will probably be the guy doing some yelling. 5th floor of the South Station building, in front of a computer in a tiny, dark room with maybe 1 other person, at the most.

no, be aimless and all, but loving arts, getting a degree in it, and then not using it sounds dumb.

in this economy, it's getting harder ot find jobs in the arts field, so i say good for mark for getting this job. i'm sure he will keep working on his art as a freelancer and for his own personal enjoyment, and when the economy finally comes around and arts jobs become available, he can always go back to it.

Honestly, fuck a career in illustration. The harder I tried to become part of the commercial art world, the more I hated art, to the point where I needed to take a good 4 or 5 month break from it. I'm glad I got my degree in illustration because I'll still be doing tons of art for my own purposes. Plus AmTrak has the most ridiculous pay, benefits and pension.
