Yea I am thinking about buying this phone. I need to buy a new phone because my last one is broken. I have been hearing good things about this phone and was wondering if I should buy it. Its either that or a blackberry. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I had a Blackberry Pearl and now I have the G1; just got it last Tuesday and I'm impressed. First few weeks apparently the battery sucks ass. I get about 9 or 10 straight hours of use before having to charge it. The only cons I can think of aside from that temporary issue are that sometimes the text message or IM ringtones don't play all the time and the entertainment options available are not as good as those available for the iPhone. But, it's new so I'm sure there will be a lot of new applications popping up soon.

Other thing I don't like is the camera is slow and has no flash. But, it's 3.2 megapixels so it takes good pictures when you have good lighting.

dl the SnapPhoto app from the market.. has a bunch of improvements to the camera... you don't have to do the half click thing it does it automatically... it has better lighting settings... (set it to incandescent for indoor stuff).. effects etc.. it's a big improvement to the camera

I actually just downloaded SnapPhoto a few days ago and started fucking with it last night. It's definitely a shitload quicker, but still takes a while if there isn't enough light; can't win em all I guess!

good phone, i also bought this phone last month the battery does suck ass but theres ways to make it last longer like making it only a 2g netowkr, shut the back light off etc

I downloaded a power manager app and it does all the legwork for you to make the battery last longer.
