pretty sure the pipes froze in my apartment building.

landlord said he'd have the heat turned on in 30 minutes about 600 minutes ago.

yay

That happened to me 3 days ago. I woke up and it was 54 degrees. My landlord also said he'd call the oil company and have it up and running within an hour. Came home after work. No heat. I called the oil company (who got no phone call from my landlord) and they said they'd come by within an hour. They were here in 20 minutes. They came in and changed the filter which the landlord said he did last winter. After an hour of black smoke we had heat.

As of right now, My serpentine belt just snapped on my way to work. What to do...
Tough to get one of those without a car. Work is so pleased!!

landlords are scum

Yeah, that's the gist of it.
I wanna call him and tell him I'll forget it ever happened if he fixes my car.

That sucks, but try being without power and water for 7 1/2 days -- we finally got power back on Friday.

oh, I'd never try to compare. I know at least I can run out and steal a space heater from my practice space.

I just hate my landlord and wanted to tell the internet

I gotta hand it to ya. That's quite a stretch of time without either. There's still people that hope to have power by Christmas.

There's still some poor fuckers in NH that won't have power until New Years.

We have a gas fireplace that made the house habitable, got buckets of water from our brook to flush the toilet, and I took showers at the gym. The hardest part of the whole thing was living with my wife who DOES NOT rough it very well -- she was beyond miserable.

I think my dad got it back thursday. Funny thing is once they got the generator running , they had cable and internet even though there were 10 miles of lines down around them.

broke and crashed my car, blew a head gasket, and the rear main seal, dented my rim, flat broke.

hopefully I'll get my check deposited friday so I can start to do this shit, and hopefully friday is warmer than 10.

I just called a generator company to come out and give me an estimate on a propane stand-by deal -- fuck ever going through this again.

yeti and i had an apartment in worcester in 2004 that cost us $400/month to heat and maybe raised the temperature about 5 degrees in that place. we decided to turn it off because it was a waste of money, and willingly lived in a 30 degree apartment for the entire winter.
