i spent the day watching Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back in its original glory. grainy dull color, sound through the tv speakers, original original original versions. i shed a tear of joy when Solo shot first. Return of the Jedi is tonight, i'm giving Sy Snootles her glory back, as well as the REAL Ewok song from the end, not the fruity re-release one.

who the hell owns those tapes still?

i have a huge VHS collection, and 2 functioning V.C.R.'s
i only wish i had the original, unchanged star wars tapes that Yeti is talkin about.
i have that cheesy "gold edition" re-release VHS tape trilogy

i'm finding myself less and less impressed with "high-definition" media - i think i'm gonna go back to VCRs too.

Fuck you, Yeti!
I was JUST thinking about getting my old StarWars VHS movies and watching the original trilogy via VCR and TV Speakers..

I love watching old tapes of TV Shows from the 80s or early 90s that were taped. Flashback city. The commercials, the cheesy intro music to the shows.. everything. Makes me want to get a rat tail and dress like Bobby Budnick again.

i don't subscribe to it. yeah there are certain movies that look cool with HD, like i watched the Iron Man HDDVD on a huge HD tv, but if the movie isn't designed for this kind of display, then you can see waaaaay too much in terms of prop design/effects etc. we grew up watching movies that weren't absolutely crystal clear, and i thought it brought a necessary element to hiding Hollywood effects magic. like the original Ghostbusters is so much better on VHS. THE GLORY OF VHS WILL NEVER DIE!!!!

Exactly! i can only imagine the horrors of hi-def porn.

wow, you of all people haven't seen HD porn yet? its pretty gross, you can see many blemishes that shouldn't be seen. apparently there are some where you can see flies too.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Dec 4,2008 10:53am
i refuse to watch it. closest i saw was Skinimax porn which wasnt bad because its was brand new.

i have a dvd/vcr combo in my bedroom and an old vcr and 30 dollar walmart dvd player in my living room.

and they are both hooked up to 90's t.v.'s
(big boxes filled with tubes)

i never plan on buying anything more advanced.

i watched Evil Dead 2 last night. VHS has so much more character than DVD.

I still have vhs copies of videos I would copy off of the half head bangers ball episodes. From kerry king would come out and bang the gong with his guitar and it use to beon at 330 to 4 pm. Then I would have ot leave for footbal practice. This is when all the original MTV dj would throw on the leather jacket for that segment!

watching spiderman 3 on bluray is a terrible idea. all the wounds at the end are so blatant. you can tell they just plasted latex over the spidey suit. it actually ruins it.

sandman looks damn good though.

I used to have them just taped off of TV. Practically wore them shits out.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Dec 8,2008 12:38pm
i watched a taped from tv version of The Goonies last night, it had the swears cut out but it had the deleted scenes. the tape was so old, it must be from when i was a kid.

This thing rules because I still have a number of movies that are STILL only on VHS.
