THE GREAT DECEIVER US RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED

Philadelphia: Peaceville Records confirms May 11 as the US release date for the second album from Sweden's The Great Deceiver. Titled Terra Incognito, it is the second album from the highly regarded melodic metal band.

Recorded during the summer of 2003, Terra Incognito, from Proust's In Search of Lost Time, was produced by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames, Strapping Young Lad). The album finds further production assistance from Orjan Ornkloo (Misery Loves Company). The band have filmed their first video for the album track "Lake of Sulphur." The clip was produced by Patric Ullaeus, who has previously worked with Dimmu Borgir.

The Great Deceiver formed immediately after the demise of the highly regarded At the Gates in 1997. Vocalist Tomas Linberg notes of the band's formation, "The Great Deceiver is the dark hardcore cousin of At The Gates. The logical continuation of my career." With guitarists Kristian Wahlin and Johan Osterberg, bassist Matti Lundell, and drummer Ulf Scott, the band released the ep Cave In in 1999. The recording was later released in the US under license (and renamed Jet Black Art) to Trustkill Records.

Signing with Peaceville Records, The Great Deceiver's full-length debut, A Venom Well Designed, was released in 2002. "Like everything else Lindberg touches - this is fucking great," said Kerrang. "A head-swirling dynamic vision wherein dreams and nightmares overlap," adds Terrorizer. The album landed on three of Terrorizer's 2002 Year End Polls (#5 best album, #4 best vocalist, #6 best newcomer). The band would tour Europe with Napalm Death and Converge to support the album.

Early anticipation for Terra Incognito is high, with magazines and fans alike already showing keen interest. Track listing for Terra Incognito includes: Today, We-The Dead, Lakeof Sulphur, From Bereavement to Resgination, Marathon Man, The Heel on the Throat of the Young, Faust in Exile, Forward/Willing/Sickness, Conspiracy Theorist, Worm of Truth.

Peaceville Records is a Snapper Music Label and distributed exclusively in the US by Navarre Corporation.
