I like Falconer, but Kamelot absolutely smoke them. Vocally, melodically, theatrically, compositionally, technically, just all around BETTER. Opinions are opinions, I guess, you're just the first person I've ever heard say that.
honestly, have you guys heard mithotyn? it blows away falconer, IMO.

FALCONER RULZ DOODZ!! When all the powermetal scene fags were jerking off over dragonforce when it was cool to like them, I was all, "fuck your summer squash vagina, falconer killz it!!" f4Lc0n3R 4 LYf3!!
There really aren't enough power metal shows in NE.
People hopefully know starting a power metal band will get you nowhere unless you have EXCELLENT musicians and singer(s)...power metal is so played out by now you really need superior songwriting and singers who command and soar above the music, but most attempts out there are terrible.
I think Kamelot, Blind Guardian, Virgin Steele are the kings of the genre. I wouldn't mind seeing more power metal around but chances are I'd rather huff cyanide gas than see any 'local' power metal band.

I'm still wary about how wren is the only one acknowledging mithotyn

Never heard of them. A link would be nice, but I'm going to try and find it on my own. As you know, I'm ALWAYS down to find new music, so keep recommendations coming!

they are like falconer but with harsh vocals and faster/more melodic riffage. I admit I was really disapppointed when falconers first album came out because mithotyn was one of my favorite Viking bands
Falconer has always been pretty weak, in my opinion. Two AWFUL singers in a row, and most of the songs are just so BORING. However, each album manages to have a couple songs that impress me, so I know that somewhere within lies talent.
I checked out some mithotyn. I'm not super keen on the black metal vox, but there were some pretty awesome riffs and musical parts. I could probably learn to deal with the vocals. So which member of Falconer is from Mithotyn?

i'd hate to have not heard king of the distant forest.

Personally, I think bands like Heol Telwen, Odroerir and Pagan Reign go far beyond anything Mithotyn and a lot of other viking/folk metal bands have done. Unfortunately, they never get discussed either.

a lot of people never really liked the vocals for mithotyn. all 3 of their albums sound different; their last is the most polished and has group (clean) chants in each song.
they experimented with some clean vocals on some of the older stuff, which I think was re-released on a newer version king of the distant forest, but I'm not sure. i found the original in philly at a record store a while back.
I really dig Weinerhall's (haha) guitarwork, but it just doesnt' cut it in falconer. Mithotyn is way more upbeat and folky.
Is Weinerhall the one with short hair that I have always refereed to as "Pirate Jim"?
Yes. He does very simple, yet effective melodies.
He's like the guys in Blind Guardian. Instead of ripping out a complex solo (which I'm sure he could) instead he writes these perfect little melodies that aren't really even solos. They just compliment the song and get stuck in your head.
