NO

Kamelot is like 15% gay.

Falconer is more like 60% gay. Also, oddly, they are maybe 15% pirate in addition.

Case in point:

Falconer has some good shit. I haven't heard any after the thrid album. But they can rock.

toggletoggle post by Aril mobile at Aug 18,2009 8:34pm
Mithotyn is where it's at

toggletoggle post by diamond dusted at Aug 18,2009 8:38pm
that song was great. well.. except for the female asian vocals.. yea.. you can't win em all

falconer is a lot better than kamelot.. but for the best in modern power, go for lost horizon.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Aug 18,2009 9:31pm
I saw Falconer in Ohio, they were pretty entertaining.

I don't know how you would ever think that:

bennyhillifier

I like Falconer, but Kamelot absolutely smoke them. Vocally, melodically, theatrically, compositionally, technically, just all around BETTER. Opinions are opinions, I guess, you're just the first person I've ever heard say that.

Karma, Epica, and The Black Halo are flawless albums.

Flawless in the sense I can listen to them, from start to finish, without skipping any tracks, and I'm a picky bastard.

How many of you guys are Symphonic/Power metal fans anyway?

Here is a better Falconer song:

FALCONER RULZ DOODZ!! When all the powermetal scene fags were jerking off over dragonforce when it was cool to like them, I was all, "fuck your summer squash vagina, falconer killz it!!" f4Lc0n3R 4 LYf3!!

I'm a symphonic/power metal fan! Well, I'm a fan of all metal be it death, power, glam/hair/80s/sappy/cheesy (LOVE CHEESY!).

There really aren't enough power metal shows in NE. Been craving some of that epic, melodic stuff!

People hopefully know starting a power metal band will get you nowhere unless you have EXCELLENT musicians and singer(s)...power metal is so played out by now you really need superior songwriting and singers who command and soar above the music, but most attempts out there are terrible.

I think Kamelot, Blind Guardian, Virgin Steele are the kings of the genre. I wouldn't mind seeing more power metal around but chances are I'd rather huff cyanide gas than see any 'local' power metal band.

Can't say I know all their material, but they were one of the first viking style metal bands I got into. Haven't listened to them in age!

toggletoggle post by Aril mobile at Aug 19,2009 12:45pm
All releases highly recommended. It was Stefan Weinerhall's band before falconer.

Never heard of them. A link would be nice, but I'm going to try and find it on my own. As you know, I'm ALWAYS down to find new music, so keep recommendations coming!

toggletoggle post by Aril mobile at Aug 19,2009 9:38pm
they are like falconer but with harsh vocals and faster/more melodic riffage. I admit I was really disapppointed when falconers first album came out because mithotyn was one of my favorite Viking bands

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Aug 19,2009 9:44pm
Falconer has always been pretty weak, in my opinion. Two AWFUL singers in a row, and most of the songs are just so BORING. However, each album manages to have a couple songs that impress me, so I know that somewhere within lies talent.

I checked out some mithotyn. I'm not super keen on the black metal vox, but there were some pretty awesome riffs and musical parts. I could probably learn to deal with the vocals. So which member of Falconer is from Mithotyn?

toggletoggle post by Aril mobile at Aug 19,2009 10:04pm
Main song writer/guitar and drummer

i'd hate to have not heard king of the distant forest.

Personally, I think bands like Heol Telwen, Odroerir and Pagan Reign go far beyond anything Mithotyn and a lot of other viking/folk metal bands have done. Unfortunately, they never get discussed either.

from about 4:30 and onward, it's insanely powerful. can't recommend these guys enough.

a lot of people never really liked the vocals for mithotyn. all 3 of their albums sound different; their last is the most polished and has group (clean) chants in each song.
they experimented with some clean vocals on some of the older stuff, which I think was re-released on a newer version king of the distant forest, but I'm not sure. i found the original in philly at a record store a while back.
I really dig Weinerhall's (haha) guitarwork, but it just doesnt' cut it in falconer. Mithotyn is way more upbeat and folky.

Is Weinerhall the one with short hair that I have always refereed to as "Pirate Jim"?

I like the guitarwork in Falconer, it's melodic and very simple. It's just his choice of terrible singers! It's Annihilator disease!

He's like the guys in Blind Guardian. Instead of ripping out a complex solo (which I'm sure he could) instead he writes these perfect little melodies that aren't really even solos. They just compliment the song and get stuck in your head.

its not called Cross Emotional Skies, its just Emotional Skies. its off GRIME VS. GRANDEUR album.

I love this band, I got to see them with Pam in Ohio. They were awesome live.

Even with that chugga chugga sound I can still here the Falconer. Though I can't say it's as good as the old shit.

Judging from this song... they are selling out.
