I am gonna go with 2 years. Money goes fast when your trying to put together an album with NO musical experience, he'll definately get top level producers/performers for his stuff, and the cost will eat up his savings pretty fast.

I'm not sure about that. Think of the money he has and the price of even the toppest levelest of the top level producers. He'll be able to afford it. Then, he'll make money back from all the stupid people who will buy his cd.
