TWO DAYS OF MUSIC, MONSTERS AND MAYHEM!
OCTOBER 10, 11, 12 2008
hmmm....
1 + 1 + 1 day of ICP = 2 days |
i'll be going to this tonight, because i've never seen obituary or btbam and bodom is good drinking music. |
what time is the convention over |
go to the site. idk.
for some reason it's all no flash. carnifex is on now. you will be able to tell their pictures since they will be the prominent red blurs inside the blackness. please don't confuse them with the red smudges which are the cabs behind them. never fails to amaze me when there are flashes coming from the crowd, but not from the photopit. |
ok, now it's just my carnifex and cob shots that will suck. jeremy saffer got to scott lee and flash is ok til bodom. I was really cranky until then. also another photog (karen) gave me some gift certificates to taco bell for letting her use one of my cameras last time I went to mark's show place. |
unleashed: unlike with carnifex, the palladium sound lends itself to the sound of unleashed. Or should I say that it doesn't hurt it. Slow and churning war anthems. Nothing that quickly rumbles back at the stage. Their music sets the pace of an army marching to war and drums that hose the enemy down like machine gun fire. The crowd is packed with teenagers screaming along to hammer battlion. It's really an awesome site to see. it's a shock to see them BEFORE abr... but whatever. |
august burns red: all the members of this band look familiar. They must have worked their way on to a fest show I was at. Surprisingly these will be my best photos of the night. I know it. If you see ABR live shots in a magazine and they aren't my pictures from this set then it is a travesty of justice. Im digging my pictures of them. I believe it must have been god's handy work cause of the super sweet prayer circle they did before starting to play. I didn't know if God would be enough so I prayed to god....zilla too. Just in case. That's what we in the business call doubling down. When I stepped away from the photopit, they were just coming out like a wall of pounding noise. The acustics here obviously killing any music that was coming from them. I did catch a lot of sweet points though. Good times. |
obituary: why isn't there a john-tardy-blog.com? I keep seeing guy (+uitar player for suffo) on stage. I think. Im betting that he is coming out for obituary if any one. He must just be a tech for obituary or the tour. Cause he set up one of the guitars and then that was it. I can not tell a lie. I knew the 3rd song was over (chopped in half), but didn't leave the photopit until after turned inside. They ruled. This band has the good graces and staying power that few bands have. It's amazing how simplicitic their songs are yet so good.
between the buried and me: they put on a stellar performance. I can not like. Plus, the guitarist from glasscasket warmed up with licks from cephallic carnage. Lots of crowd surfers during their set, but they were fairly amicable. Didn't see any assholes. Did see a few bloody noses. Bleed for the camera. I swear, these guys and DEP should trade a few members back and forth. I doubt the crowd would notice and they could probably play each other's music with out any trouble. I sat up top and watch the moshing moshers moshing. Eh.. Let's call it "moshing". It was all dudes with a million times more muscles than brains shoving each other in a tiny circle wicked hard and then throwing their arms up in the air like "fight me!" wtf.. The crowd basically filtered out once btbam was done. The floor was all but 1/4 emptied. Eh, I hope they know there isn't reentery right now. |
I would've gone to see Unleashed and Obituary. The rest of the bands would've been, well, interesting to say the least. |
I'll bet there were no less than two fresh glory holes in the mens room by the end of the night. |
damn, I should have gone to it.
working on pictures. no homo. |
I've got nine anonymous inches you could process through this here conveniently located missing section of bathroom stall. |
Never enough random shots.
darkside/animals?
But but, what about the free Neuraxis and Revocation show on Sunday!!
Also, you can totally go cheesier. Seriously, that was like Swiss cheese cheesy. To go really cheesy, you need to be like Cheese Whiz!!! |
August Burns Red is from Pennsylvania and on Solid State... they've put out like... two or three albums for them too... |
I have seen the CDs, but didn't listen to them.. them could have only been one. idk. |
