FUCK YEAH

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Tampa Bay Rays leads Chicago White Sox 1-0
Red Sox lead LA Angels 1-0

NATIONAL LEAGUE

LA Dodgers lead Chicago Cubs 2-0
Philadelphia Phillies lead Milwaukee Brewers 2-0

Can't wait for Game 2 of both American league series tonight!

I'd love to see a Tampa/Red Sox ALCS... actually I can't believe I'm saying that given what a shitty matchup it SHOULD be. But anyways, I'd love to see it happen just so the Sox can prove once and for all who the better team is.

If I had to make a pick for the World Series right now though I'd take the Phillies. Just a hunch.

I'm hoping for a Dodgers/Red Sox world series, but I do feel bad for the Cubs and their fans right now. I just hope they avoid the humiliation of being swept in the NLDS.

I don't know if any one out there still gives a shit but Bill Simmons just wrote an awesome article about the whole Manny fiasco this season ... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/eticket/story?page=manny

It'll take some time to read but it's worth it. Simmons is a great sportswriter.

I have nothing to contribute to this thread that is worthwhile. But I will say that I got a text from a number I do not know last night that reads, "If Tampa Bay can win a playoff game then Chinese Democracy could come out."

i feel so bad for cubs fans, man

toggletoggle post by aril at Oct 3,2008 1:23pm
I feel bad for Fukudome and how most of the Cubs' fans hate him now. He was pretty good in the 1st half, but something happened in the 2nd..

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Oct 3,2008 1:28pm
I'm rooting for the Cubs this year on the NL side.

The Sox will win their series in 6.

toggletoggle post by tylor at Oct 3,2008 1:29pm
the japanese season is shorter, the longer season had a similar effect on okajima last year

toggletoggle post by tylor at Oct 3,2008 2:33pm
wow, just read that whole manny article. definitely a good main point, but i do remember eei talking about how boras had to have been in manny's ear

Bill Simmons is the man, writes some great articles in ESPN the magazine.

My friend is a die-hard Rays fan,, has been since the team's inception (despite being from Falmouth).

I want his heart to be shattered in a million pieces.

I read the Simmons article on Manny. 100% correct, and reflects what I've been saying all along. People were so quick to all of a sudden hate Manny. That's just the way things are done in Boston though. Monkey see, monkey do. Monkey buy a pink Red Sox hat.

i'd be surprised if the sox beat la in this round. yeah, the angels couldn't beat them in the playoffs before, but they were 8-1 against the sox this year. they added texeira to go along with vlad, hunter and anderson, their top 3 in the rotation have been very good, and they're the only team in baseball with 50 wins both at home and on the road. it seems like they're ready to get the red sox monkey off their back.

toggletoggle post by DomesticTerror at Oct 3,2008 11:47pm
tori hunter is now an asshole on a national level. i hope to hell someone makes a gif of that.

toggletoggle post by BSV at Oct 3,2008 11:52pm
The Angels don't deserve to win this game.
What the fuck was that retarded nickname the announcer gave Pedroia? pony horse or some shit??? what the fuck!?!

NIce.

Sox up 2 - 0 in series.

toggletoggle post by rbss at Oct 4,2008 10:49am
I predict a sweep in the Red Sox series. The Angels have a huge hurdle to overcome facing the momentum that the Sox are building in this series; the psychological difficulty of dominating the Red Sox in the season series and being unable to get a post-season win; and facing the Fenway crowd on Sunday.

As for the Rays series, I could see the White Sox turning it around now that they are heading to their home-field, but that is a big 'maybe.' White Sox could easily wind up getting swept. They did not look impressive last night.

I can't wait to see Longoria choke in the ALCS.

i dont really know if thats going out on a limb... next two games are at Fenway and we are now 11-0 against LA in the post season. more like going on the deck a for a beer than going out on a limb.

I used to be really into Simmons' stuff but he's really lost it since '04. The predictable pop culture references are pretty grating and I'm sick of hearing about his shitbag yuppie playdates with Hench and J-Bug. It also sucks that virtually every wanna be sportswriter copies his writing. Halberstam and Plimpton wouldn't even wipe their asses with Simmons' work, and Hunter S. Thompson was a better writer for espn with minimal effort.

Sox sweep, split gm 1 and 2 in the Trop, take the ALCS in 5, and it's a wash in 7 with Philly.

So, Cubs and Brewers are DONE. Phillies/Dodgers in NLCS.

White Sox stay alive.

The Cubs are sad.

east coast baseball media bias or something.

Okay- tonight.

RED SOX vs. RAYS

statistics predict that the Red Sox have a 46% chance of winning the series. However, if they win tonight, it'll jump to 67%.

Dice-K is pitching so we'll see how that goes. I won't be able to watch it because of band practice but let's hope they pull it off. I want to push these newcomers way the fuck down off of their high horses. This is October though, so let's expect some surprises. Here's a few things I wish to see in this series:
1) Another Brawl
2) Dice-K pitching past the 5th inning
3) Bib Papi actually hitting a clutch homer again
4) Jason Bay to establish himself as an October Hero
5) Another Brawl

Should be fun.

i predict this series will be an epic 7 game battle where every home teams wins until game 7 when the sox take the rays at home

toggletoggle post by tylor at Oct 10,2008 8:16pm
