Right before Hendrix died, I guess him and Miles Davis we're going to collaborate on a trippy-ass album. I always thought it would have been an unbelievable album if that were to ever happen.

That was about a year and a half before he died. I have an album with outtakes from a session Jimi did with a horn section. It's actually pretty cool (I am also a huge Chicago fan) but the way Jimi bounced around from idea to the next so quickly during the last couple years of his life I really doubt the Jimi/Miles thing would have ever ended up happenning if it didn't happen by the time he died.

my father's got some vinyl bootleg of a hendrix show in hawaii. i can't remember the year but it's supposed to be kind of rare. i wanted to look into it

I don't know if he really counts as a 'performer' per se, but Sergio Leno died at 60 years old but only a few years after making maybe his best movie and I've read that he had another in the works and plently of other projects he was working on. If he could have lived to 70 he may have had 1 or 2 more and they'd likely be in my top 10.

First of all, ragging on someone for setting his guitar on fire is rather hypocritical coming from a GG Allin fan.

The guy invented so much shit that became so commonplace it almost seems generic by todays standard, but NO ONE was doing what he was doing at the time. No one sounded like that, no one played like that. The guy pretty much invented heavy metal.
