mounted tom and floor tom advice would be awesome too...the only thing I can get to sound decent is my bass drum...emad 3 took care of that.

aquarian hi energy for the toms?

nah, just the snare...if you want good tom sounds, try the aquarian performance II...they're easy to work with

It depends on the kind of head that give you the sound you like and then how you tune the. I would suggest going to a drum shop and try to play on different heads, then pick them and then tune them to your desire and check the spec of what they are really made for. Hard hitting, soft rock and the if it is 2 skin or not etc.... It depends on hwo you like them tuned the way you like the. They may sound different where the drum is to where you play them. That is just some general suggestions.

i really like the Remo Black Suede heads for the toms ... nice sound ... but depends on the type of drum you are playing ( maple or birch ) ... definite trip to the drum shop for the right sound your looking for

snare - i recomend getting the little plastic muffling ring that sits along the rim of your snare on the head, it cuts the sound down to make it sound sharper and tighter, as far as actual head is concerned, if your snare still sounds too loose after the muffler, use a vented head by evans, real good if your getting too much noise. But otherwise i would go with a remo ambassador on the snare. Great sound, cheap, classic. and with the muffler, your in.
I sm still trying out new heads every time, batter heads sound different with every resonant head, so you gotta try different combos, and you never know what will work with your set. AND THATS the best thing to follow, your ears. try stuff that the people you like recomend, but keep trying until your ears tell you that you found the right ones for you.
