New site? Maybe some day.

Do you prefer the first wave of bm (Mercyful Fate, Venom, Bathory, Celtic Frost) or the second (Mayhem, Dark Throne, Burzum, Blasphemy, Rotting Christ, Impaled Nazarene etc) |
I love both and they are both unique in their own way; however, I find myself listening to the 2nd wave a little bit more. |
Thats because you were still a little kid when i was rocking out in my bed room listening to tapes of the first wave of Black metal, if you call it that or Thrash!!! When I was abou t 14 or 15 you were what about 8 or 10!! |
MF/venom/bathory/CF >>>>>>>>> the rest of that ghey shit |

that's how i feel too. |
explain? Is it because you have your head up your anus?
Ask any of those 2nd wave bands who their influences are and they will say Venom and MF.
what makes Venom or MF bm?
the unique atmosphere
the occult and dark overtones
a "satanic" message
these are things the average heavy metal, death metal or thrash metal band does not have. This is the escense of black metal... |
How many second wave black metal bands ripped off Mercyful Fate's "Satan's Fall" riff... Go have a listen fags |
I listened to Mercyful Fate all last night.
Also, one of my favorite early 2nd wave bands is Root. Add them to the list. |
I always considered the "first wave" thrash/heavy metal. It brings up what makes a BM band? Is Deicide BM because of the Satanic Lyrics? Morbid Angel? Possessed? There is definately a stylistic ingredient to BM that makes it such...different than what Mercyful Fate and Venom brought to the table |
Hellhammer (pre Celtic Frost) is one of the earliest ones that should be mentioned, too. |
Someone forgot to mention Merciless.
When we talked about black metal, it was Bathory, Possessed, Hellhammer, Merciless, and some said Morbid Angel.
Blackmetal is melodic structuralist underground metal. That's about as close as anyone is gonna get with a definition in one sentence. |
so going by that definition, is Slayer black metal? |
Black metal is this feeling man! This feeling when your in a blizzard and you want to rape and pillage yeshiva schools... Ya fuckin dig it bro? Ya fuckin get what true bm really is??? I jus wanna drink brandy and fuck under age chicks while fucking Master's Hammer is cranking!!! |
Black Metal was coined by venom and it stuck with the perfect wave of underground extreme metal bands... Which I think, really did take the name so suited for them to make it a new metal genre. I really don't think the 80's bands were black metal, but have influenced the future metal scene and back then there was only Heavy Metal, Thrash and speed metal! I will forever be old school, but love all the new extreme music! Forever a metal Child no matter what style or name, as long as it is true brutal metal! |
Cradle of Filth started it all. |
What? You mean Nargaroth wasn't the first BM Band? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! |
so going by that definition, is Slayer black metal? |
I heard it called that at a Testament show once. Then again, the dude was also talking about Possessed and Necrovore, so ??? |
In the servitude mass, where the goatcloak runs looooong and BLACK... |
