So here are my thoughts:

I figure that since i live in and practice in a building that you can play as loud/late as you want, i might wanna consider having shows in my apartment. I would obviously put all my furnature/bedding in my storage space, and use our cabs/drum shells as backline to preserve space for people, but with that i figure you can squeeze in 50 or so people. Which i BELIEVE is about how many fit in those basement shows that happen semi frequently in boston.

Do you guys think 50 people is enough room to have a show? How many bands should i do? 2, 3, 4, i was leaning towards 2 or 3 but would be flexable. It would obviously be free, it is one stop past south station on the redline so its really easy to get there, and parking isnt a problem because not only is there a parking lot, but there is also tons of parking on the streets.

If this was to happen i would obviously use is as a tool for even more shameless self promotion to get Boarcorpse the chance to start playing even if its for small groups of people. And i think that it would be small enough, but not too small so that we would have that friendly atmosphere and such. Would there be any interest in any of the bands on here getting involved in this? Any recomemdations on what to do, and what not to do? Overall advice?

I say try out one show kinda like a guinea pig. And judge what you wanna do from there.

toggletoggle post by corpus_nli at Aug 19,2008 2:42pm
do it.

keep in mind its not a regular practice space either, its carpetet, had central air, a bathroom, kitchen, nice big windows, would definately be more comfortable than those basement show i think. But i am a little intimidated by it.

There was a Hirudinea/PanzerBastard/Revocation at my reh. space (Brighton/Allston Sound museum) and it was fucking awesome. One of the best times I ever had. Do it up.

Sounds cool, but think of how ppl behave at shows. Carpet and spilled beer are not a good combo. Moss pit into your TV YEAH! That being said, good man, helping the scene and not trying to profit off it.

toggletoggle post by monster_island  at Aug 19,2008 4:24pm
fuckin A ... we ll do it for one of those sammiches you been pimpin !!

toggletoggle post by blue  at Aug 19,2008 4:25pm
3 bands sounds adequate for the space.

toggletoggle post by deadlikemurf  at Aug 19,2008 4:31pm
dude where do you live that u could pull this off?

toggletoggle post by narkybark   at Aug 19,2008 4:44pm
the sound museum in southie.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Aug 19,2008 5:09pm
Narky is correct.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Aug 19,2008 5:17pm
yeah, there definately would be some precautionary measures.... maybe a tarp of some sort to protect my carpet... shouldnt be too bad though, i think it would be small enough that if someone behaved like a REAL ass it would probably be handled. Obviously you have to plan for complete morons, cause they make up, oh, i dunno, 90% of our population. But as long as we were careful it would be fun. And obviously all ages, which would be real cool.

I talked to the band in the space next to me and they would be willing to help by letting me store bands shit in their room so no ones stuff would be hurt/stolen while they werent playing.

what you talking about, the people who said they MIGHT play one of these shows? Should bands audition directly to you?
