anyhow psytoxia is on right now.

psytoxia's a good time. i want to be there but i can only make it tomorrow. bollocks!

wtf

My father in Law showed up this morning. (Translation - my mother in law was driving him batty). He dropped off items and is working on the house (we rent from him). I didn't go to sleep until 6am due to the Les Legions Noire radio show. So I didn't get a full sleep - NOR - am I getting to see the early bands.

I figured that it would be a trade off as to whether I got a full sleep or caught the full show. ah well - I plan to show up for Bloodsoaked - maybe catch Leukorrhea if the bands run late.

ps - I like my Father in law. Just ... why today?

the bands are running sort of on time..er.. actually early.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 9,2008 3:11pm
there are plenty of people here already. the only lame thing is the one entrance/exit for the normals. you have to got up the back. that's going to get hard to deal with in and a couple hours.

psytoxia: (hell) they kept trying to start earrly and end early. This is the first band in the history of fests that was given more time and didn't want it. Beeing the first band, the put it all into the show, but the crowd basically sat there with folded arms looking asleep. This set sounded a million tmes better than the show at obriens last month.

Parasitic Extirpation: (jerky's) I liked this band better when they were called porphyria. J/k. I remember blue back when he was bi, styled his hair, and didn't know anything about slam other than the onxy song. There should have been some dancing for hem, but that didn't happen. The new singer stayed on the floor. If you looked at the stage, you would have sworn that the stage was a blue sammich. Chris and Blue have merged their looks to a style that im going to call blurrias. There is an easy way to tell them apart:
Headbanging is he
Then blue he be
Stationary fella
Um.. That's chris

Drew gave me something simpler, blue has brown eyes and chris has blue. Why is he called blue when he's eyes are brown?

tentacles: I came down to one of the loudest things ever. These guys (named after the second best sort of rape) we so heavy. Beyond that the singer has always has a masterful stage presence. He might be talking about eating boogars or whatever, but he just sounds so professional doing it. As with psytoxia, these guys started early. When they were asking how much longer they had, there was still 1/2 their set time left.

I'm pissed I'm missing this, but I don't have a car anymore. Someone give Will a big wet kiss for me.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 9,2008 4:35pm
I hurd.

Abnormality: they sounded awesome. Honestly, I couldn't hear sean (porphyria since this is porphyria fest) at all. This was my first time seeing them with him too. It looked like he was doing a lot. Actually, most of what I heard were the triggers. The crowd got moving including someone getting kicked to the ground. That's a first of the night.

They are showing videos of animals being tortured downstairs. That makes me :(. Dolphins being cut up alive, rats being injected, monkeys having brain work, etc... Though now it's moved on to aboriginal humans modifying themselves. I don't remember this on faces of death.

defleshuary: pretty damn brutal death metal. Im sure that their CD is beyond amazing, but my one problem with bands like this that don't have a separate singer and also don't have songs the crowd knows is that they tend to be a bit boring live. Like everyone in the band is cemented in place. Someone check their myspace and tell me how good they are from 1 to 10.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 9,2008 4:54pm
At this point in the day, the fest has already proven that it isn't sick as sin. I have a feeling that this might just go over alright. This is 4pm in PVD mind you. People in pvd don't wake up until 5pm.

oh and there is plenty of time thusfar to type out bullshit for you posers who stayed home to watch a movie on your bitching home theater system. let me tell you right now, it doesn't sound or feel like you are at the movies. I feels like im in your dirty living room and it smells like farts and cigarettes.

leukorrhea: I thought mike would be singing, but nope! NATE! I haven't seen that dude in 3 years. I have a feeling that after their set he is going to slip back to the cape and I won't get to see him for another 3 years. The band sounded brutal. Anthony had to fill in on bass since their bassist got stuck with a flat on the cape. There was a micro buurst of dancng for them, but I think everyone was just standing there getting the brutal ass handed to them. Their set brought back memories.

bloodsoaked: (hell) ever since this guy posted a really good sounding demo on the site, I've been wanting to see them/him. I heard that he got a whole band, but that was probably from someone who saw the CD with all the dudes. Those were all the same guy. Sorry. It was funny that cause I did a multiple exposure with 3 of him. The crowd was thin when he started but filled in and moshed out as the set went on.

maruta: (jerkys) they were the most grind core sounding band of the night. Made me wonder where the death was. They are on tour with malignancy I guess.

Both the best and worst thing about this fest is how absolutely awesome it is outside.

funny that you and with a girl, but you like dudes. wtf!

distorted impalement: (hell) broken english and broken strings. Which came first? They played one song and then the guitarist broke a string. Blue was over there trying to speed get them back on, but it was slow going. Their english wasn't too good, but the singer tried. Im sure their posts would make way more sense than my posts.

toggletoggle post by Sxealex cell at Aug 9,2008 6:59pm
Ball bags are fantastic

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 9,2008 6:59pm
inhuman dissiliency: (jerkys) drum machine gore. They were the first band to also have plenty of samples. I thought the mix for them was terrible and they probably sound much better on CD. No bawls to that system.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 9,2008 7:40pm
Dysentery: (hell) will is going to be a mess on tour. The whole band is going to be roaming the USA trying to drop nut. Funny that when they were starting up, and there was like no one down there. I looked done and look ip and the room was pretty full. The set started off just as brootal as you would expect from all of them. Beer flew all over the place almost immediately. It was also hilarious watching some some drunk girl shoving a drunk paul over and over again. At the end of the set, blue cried on stage and talked about how awesome the turn out was and announced that next year, there would be another on.

Thanks Rev! Oh and I am already back on the Cape, you've got that ESP dontcha? It won't be three years this time though... hope to have time to chit chat next time!

yeah, after I posted that, I stopped and taalked to mike and asked if you left right after the set. he said yes.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 9,2008 8:46pm
malignancy: (jerkys) the best of dudes. They were there on one of the first shows I shot. They stood on stage for like 15 minutes waiting for the sound guy to do anything. He must have taken a smoke break or something. They finally went on and once again upstairs, no guitars. The audience was packed. I have a feeling that this will be the height of the attendance. the reaction to malignancy was awesome.

toggletoggle post by Sxealex cell at Aug 9,2008 8:59pm
Drummer is sicktacular

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 9,2008 9:06pm
putrid pile: (hell) this guy is the phil colins of one man bands. He's been doing longer and better than just about anyone. The crowd went apeshit for it. There were even some stage diving / crowd surfing attempts made. At the end, he was begged back to the stage to play another song.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 9,2008 10:25pm
pyrexia: (jerkys) wow.. I think the last time I "shot" them was the same first show with malignancy. Who would have thought in this day and age that I would get to see pyrexia? They were savage. So much new stuff that I don't know. Their set was well worth the wait to see them again. The crowd was almost as big as it was for malignancy. dwyer was raging in the front a bunch. one of the things we can give him props for is the first EP there. releasing it that is.

pessimist: (hell) anther one of those bands that I always figured I would never see again. They played like they owned the stage. Yes they are all quite a bit older, but they act like they never left the stage. They ended with drunk on the blood of saints. Wow. Another great track. It didn't seem like they had a lot of gear on stage, but they sounded massive.

Chris had them playing another one of the shows (that he shot) with girls getting on stage and getting topless and getting beer dumped on them. The best is as pessimist played some chunky dude got on the stage and went topless. The drummer wouldn't let him near him!

Good Times.

As the Rev pointed out - Club Hell has better sound (but deafening), Jerky's has more of a crowd reaction but lower quality sound (still pretty decent but not as good).

Circle of Dead Childern - I enjoyed them and was looking forward to their set, they seemed to loose crowd attention for a bit. They had some sound problems, and the singer was talking to the crowd, but looking at the drum kit. It's like they were in another room from everyone else. But halfway through their set they really seemed to click into form and connect with the crowd. It was weird. They played great the whole time though.

Club Hell switched over to dance club after Pessimist - Did anyone notice the douche bag crowd in Club Hell? For every Douche Guy there were two girls: One normal 'Saturday-night-out' club girl, and one girl who learned how to put on makeup by watching Transvestite Guys who learned by watching Transexual Guys put on makeup based on what they though women did in the 80's.

The rev was totally getting down in Club Hell to the middle eastern mix of Britney Spear's "Gimmie More" He's gonna deny it.

Pissed I can't go today, but yesterday was well worth it. Hell stage was phenomenal, and the sound down there is killer (having 2 Vader cabs doesn't hurt either). It definitely smelled like a junior high bathroom down there for some odd reason, too.

I also now know exactly what a chicken does after you chop it's head off, and that sheep contain unbelievably large amounts of blood...especially when hung upside down and stabbed in the neck. Thank you.

Jerky's stage was sick as shit, but what the FUCK was up with the sound guy? Some of the earlier sets sounded like they were in a tin can inside a vacuum. Awesome setup with the 2 stages though, and overall a fuckin wicked time for sure. All the bands absolutely killed it, and I can't wait for next year.

dave rules. he should start selling cases of snake oil.

strappado: (jerkys) I thought MFR was in this band. I also thought that it was sexcrement getting on stage, but I was fing up! They sounded ok as the set went on. The sound upstairs sounds like the PA is made out of triggers and toilet paper tubes. I have a feeling this soundd guy doesn't like the metal gooves. I prophesized back in the ascendancy days that josh would start singing. 5 years later, there he is. Awe...

circle of dead children: (jerkys) anyone I talked to at this show that was super pumped about it and from PVD basically just wanted to see CODC. Their set was nothing short of fabulous, abfab. The thing that always impresses me about them are the vocals. Very varied and all excellently executed.

skinless: (jerkys) wow, ridiculous amounts of ridiculous ridiculousness. From a constant sample of booing from the crowd to kids getting on stage in waves to sara kubrick singing on stage for the first time in 3 years. Wow. These guys never cease to amaze and put on a kick ass show. The end of their set was the most hilarious. They had a wrestling match on stage and then Jason got on the bar as usual. The bar tender sprayed him with the sprayer thing they use for drinks. When he turned to spray her it was an epic fail. She sprayed him again and the he didn't get off the bar, hitting on her long after the band stopped playing.
And yummy, if mike from malignancy can't play the next show, it's all your fault. I hit him with my camera in the hand.

I didn't realize anyone could tell the color of my eyes since I can't really open them too wide...

...Blue keeps a picture of me next to his bed for inspiration.

...and I'm going to chop off all my hair and start playing SRV Fender Stratocasters, lets see who cops my style then!

Also, my other band 3 Headed Monster (who?) are playing a show at the All Asia on Sunday...I made a flier and I'll post it as soon as I'm not on a work computer (my laptop charger shat the bed so this is how I conduct my business...all I do is facebook wrestler anyways).

So if Deathfest was for the scene people...then this means the 3HM show is for the underground scene...so scene that most scene people will be like no man, thats too scene...I can't be seen at that scene...drift

Kudos to everyone who had anything to do with this show and everyone who I ran into throughout the weekend

pretty bummed I missed what sounds and looks like the best Skinless set that I would have seen in 2 years, fuckin ernie... whatev

I mean, Ernie was in rare form, but still, what exactly do you hope to accomplish by tossing a bands merch on the ground? ...makes for a good story I guess...

This is Peter from Bloodsoaked, I am still in Boston and some people emailed me about this thread. I can honestly say I did not touch anyones merch. I had a table I shared with Shawn from Putrid Pile and I was in and out all day. Some time after I played people and I thnk even members of the bands merch table were wrestling and smashed the table and it was on its side for hours. I never touched the table and I had no reason to toouch it. I was cool with everyone all day.

If someone said I touch your merch and/or table it is a complete lie!!! I am on my sisters computer now but I will check this thread and reply more if I need to when I get back to NC tomorrow.

Any questions or comments please ask.

I know my word on this will mean nothing to no one BUT I've known Pete for YEARS...he's one of the most respectful and coolest people around who LIVES & BREATHES underground death metal. He has no enemies and isn't the type to go making any and he certainly has no reason to lie about it. If he did do this he would certainly own up to it AND give his reason as to why...but I gotta believe he wouldn't do that to another band period. He wants to network and make friends not enemies...makes no sense why he (or anyone else for that matter) would do that to another band...

hahah honestly i'm not surprised if people were wresting by our table and knocked it down and it stayed that way.

Pete i remember asking you to just watch our table to make sure no one ran off with shit and you were more than cool about it. I have no problems.

Honestly when i heard our table got knocked down and heard Ernie was involved my reaction was sort of "oh well...that'll happen i guess."

I wasnt there so i don't really know what happened but having our merch on the floor was the very least of our worries for the weekend haha.

I'll grant that I wasnt there, and therefore I didnt witness it, but I spoke with two separate people who claim to have seen "the guy from bloodsoaked" stand next to the table and flip the merch on the floor, now Im not saying that that makes any sense, hence my interest in what the reasoning behind that could possibly have been, but I am saying that I wasn't away from the table for "hours" at any point Saturday and I never once saw the table on its side

if you say you didn't do it, then whatever, Im not going to get all huffy and let anything take away from an amazing weekend because of an insignificant event that was no doubt brought on in one way or another by someone else who was too drunk to know where he was or what he was doing (that'd be ernie), but from the story that was given to me, thats pretty lame

I was downstairs at the psytoxia table at one point (forget which day) and did see people drunken wrestling. The table tipped and most of the merch fell off. (not a whole lot). I grabbed a beer before it went over. I thought most of it got picked back up. Didn't seem like a big deal. I don't know if this is the same thing you guys are talking about. I forget who the wrestlers were but it wasn't intentional by any means.
