New site? Maybe some day.

Get rid of him?
Tell him to STFU?
Give him 20mil?
What will happen? The never ending soap opera just wrote itself another chapter. |
keep him for the remainder of this year. his numbers are down compared to what he has done in the past, but everyone's numbers in the AL are down. he's #5 in the league in OPS, that's pretty fucking good. he's also tied for second most games played on the team, which many media folks seem to forget to mention. the ownership won't pick up the option, but i doubt they'll actually trade him, either. they wouldn't succeed in the playoffs without him. |
keep him til the end of the year and try to win the world series, then don't pick up his option. enough is enough. the guy is a great hitter, but he's a space cadet with a horrible attitude. |
give him a bonus everytime he actually runs out a grounder. |
Manny, for the most part, picked up the slack when Ortiz was out of the lineup. They should keep him until he retires. |
not worth it next year cuz of all the constant problems, but for this year we cant get rid if him cuz of his impact on the offense |
we should stop thinking about getting rid of someone and start thinking about adding someone. Angels and Yankees have improved and we've done nothing. Everyone is so caught up in being sick of manny being manny that they're ignoring the fact that our bullpen is and has been a serious problem. and for the record, i've been sick of manny for 3 years, but there's nothing we can do about it.
doods a manchild with an amazing bat when he's not acting out, i think they should just pick up the remainder of his contract and get him happy since theyll never be able to get what they feel they deserve for his talents.
i'd rather keep him around and deal with the manchild then let the Yankees grab him.
hi remember Johnny Damon, also this is for Mike whats up with the chances for Tampa Bay or the Yankees picking up Barry Bonds i keep hearing that shit on the radio. |

Manny to Marlins?
According to SI.com, the Marlins and Phillies have expressed interest in Manny Ramirez. If the Marlins are looking to make a big splash-move, this would certainly create a tidal wave of interest for a team looking to boost attendance and gather more support for their new stadium deal, which right now is being held up in a lawsuit. It's not uncommon for the Marlins to express interest in major impact players. In years past, they quietly explored aquiring Roger Clemens, when the Rocket was weighing a return to the Yankees. A couple of years ago, when Washington was dangling Alfonso Soriano, the Marlins also entered the conversations. How realistic would a Ramirez trade be? Perhaps it is nothing more than inquiring. According to Baseball Prospectus, a source says outfielder Jeremy Hermida and pitching prospect Jeff Allison would be headed to Boston for Manny. The Marlins are certainly working the phones, and Ramirez would be the shocker of shockers, considering Florida's $22 million payroll. The Marlins have Josh Willingham in left, and he isn't an realistic option to play right field, where Hermida plays. But Cody Ross could move from center to right, and Alfredo Amezaga could play center, should the Marlins be daring with a Ramirez trade. |
and WTF Trot Nixon is on the Mets, goodlord. |
Unless, you can get something really worth while, you might not be able to trade him. |
Update: word on the street is the Marlins deal might include the Pirates. We send Manny to Florida for Jeremy Hermida, power hitting outfield prospect Mike Stanton and either young pitchers Jeff Allison or Ryan Tucker. Then us sending Hermida to Pittsburgh for Jason Bay. |

I could honestly go for that. Bay, while he's no Manny, is a very good player with solid power numbers. Plus, one thing the Sox lack is power in the minors, and Stanton helps add to that.
I just worry about Ortiz getting pitched around. |
To avoid losing the habit of striking weird solutions to problems, Ramirez suggested a change that would solve two issues at the moment.
"I should go to Green Bay straight up and they should send Brett Favre to Boston. That will end two soap operas at the same time," Ramirez told Rojas.
hahaha |
Manny is an ass clown.
He does not need our money. |
There's three things that people love when it comes to Boston sports.
1. Building band wagons.
2. Riding the shit out of them.
3. Forgetting all about them later.
The Boston sports media loves to jump all over it's players, and coaches any chance it gets, and people love to get Heineken rage over it. We've put up with a lot from Manny, but in all honesty Manny has put up with a lot from us in return. |
I just worry about Ortiz getting pitched around. |
one of my main concerns, as well. they've been our generation's ruth and gehrig, breaking them up probably isn't going to be good for david. |
we've given him 2 WS rings. let's see if he can get that on another team. |
i'd rather keep him around and deal with the manchild then let the Yankees grab him.
hi remember Johnny Damon, also this is for Mike whats up with the chances for Tampa Bay or the Yankees picking up Barry Bonds i keep hearing that shit on the radio. |
Johnny Damon... who's Johnny Damon? Oh you mean that guy that jumped ship from the Sox because he was 100% certain he could win another championship with the Yankees?
Damon's averages the last two seasons with the Yankees:
2006 - .285
2007 - .270
He hasn't even had over 600 at-bats in either of those seasons. Johnny Damon is a bust for the Yankees.
I don't see anything concrete about the Rays looking to sign Barry Bonds other than their GM has acknowledged talking about the possibility of signing him. So who knows. |
get rid of him.
tabula rasa. |
Damon leaving wasn't a disaster in the long run. Neither was Pedro or Lowe or Nomar.
While Manny doesn't hit like he used, he's still one of the best and most feared hitters in the league. But sometimes enough is enough. |
i think you gotta let him go cause he wants to go.
In soviet russa, TEAM PLAYS YOU!
manny is headed towards the twilight of his career imo..to an NL team as well.
it really works out best for him and us. i hate how sentimental we bosox fans are.
leaving on a gangrenous appendage is a recipe for disaster. at some point i think ya gotta sever ties accordingly and with dignity...this seems like the right window of opportunity to do so with a shoe in hall of famer.
and for the record i think this dood was 100 % misunderstood in this town. |
I like Manny a lot. It's pretty faggoty the way this is all going down. |
The guy gets non-stop crap from everyone every year. that year he last minute opted out to play in the all star game, last year when he posed after he hit that homerun in the playoffs, and this year with this crap.
The highlight of his career here IMO was when he became a citizen and ran around with the american flag. that was funny |
well they've only got about 3 hours left if they are going to do anything, personally i don't think that they will but who knows |
yeah the Marlins are pushing for more then they deserve to get and i think thats whats now killing the deal.
they want manny, money and two prospects fuck all that noise. |
update: manny has been traded to the yankees
full disclosure soon |
don't care if manny stays or goes. i just want pitching dammit. |
update: manny has been traded to the yankees
full disclosure soon |
like that would happen |
you still made me check. i admit defeat. |
jason bay to the devil rays. i'm ready for football. |
Oh well, he'll still produce. (that is, unless he fakes an injury again) |
nesn just reported that manny has been traded. mlb says it's to the dodgers.
in b4 Nomar!
i have to admit when i heard that my heart kinda dropped. |
Bay is coming to Boston! thoughts? |
The Red Sox traded Manny Ramirez to the Dodgers late Thursday afternoon, SI.com has learned.
Jason Bay is headed to Boston as part of the deal, SI.com has learned. The Pirates will get four minor leaguers in the three-way trade.
The Red Sox went back-and-forth with the Marlins and Dodgers as the 4 p.m. ET deadline approached. Ramirez said earlier today, as first reported by SI.com, that he would accept a trade to any team.
The announcement will be made in conjunction with a World Baseball Classic announcement at Dodger Stadium shortly. |
lol....traded for one dude who's just hitting 30 years old
lol |
Fuck him. great hitter, but I hope he ends up with the marinaers and then sees the Sox win it all. ego on his part sucks the cock. |
i kinda like this deal. 22 homers so far this year, and that hitting in pittsburgh. imagine what he'll do in Fenway? |
i wonder what torre's thinking right now. |
This trade sucks. This is fucking Manny Ramirez we're talking about. We couldn't even squeeze a pitcher out of this deal to go along with Bay. Yet again Theo chokes at the trade deadline. This fucking sucks.
Manny I'll miss you, and when we lose in the ALDS for the next 4 years so will everyone else. |
manny's a lazy nigg nogg. he's got a powerful swing but he doesn't run for shit.
btw. i know nothing about baseball |
I like the deal. Bay is very, very good, is just hitting his prime, and the Sox have him for another year after this at a much lower price than Manny. That could allow them to go after Sheets and/or Sabathia in the offseason.
Hansen wasn't going to turn it around here, which is a shame because for all the things the Sox do to protect their young pitchers, they totally went the opposite way for him for some reason. I think maybe with another team he'll do well, but here, he wasn't going to turn it around IMO.
I really like Moss, but I'm not upset he's leaving. I was actually more upset that they gave up Dave Murphy in the Gagne trade.
I'm just happy the Sox didn't give up Michael Bowden or Daniel Bard in any trade. Well, that, and Manny's gone. |
i wonder what torre's thinking right now. |
"He's one of the best four or five hitters in baseball," Dodgers manager Joe Torre said on Wednesday. "I like him, yet he marches to his own drummer. I had him in the All-Star Game. It doesn't make sense to me [that he would be available]."
