The first 2 episodes have aired. Reminds me a lot of Band of Brothers, just based on the way it "feels". It's based around 1st Recon Marines entering Iraq in 2003. Looks pretty awesome so far.

Also, lots of familiar faces from The Wire, Oz, Rescue Me, and other TV shows.

Yeah, I definitely got the Iraq version of Band of Brothers vibe. And it's a David Simon/Ed Burns joint, so I have to watch it....haha

I haven't had time yet to research the actors /writers / director. (It's based off the book right?) But yeah, I'm glad other people got the band of brothers vibe. I don't think anything can quite compare to the BoB "story", but Generation Kill is definitely good stuff. Solid set of characters, flows well, action is good, and just as an overall real feel... there's the standard war stuff, but they also leave in room to show the soldiers just being themselves, as well as mundane military shit and command fuckups they have to deal with too, ala Band of Brothers.

I have Direct TV. Comcast fucked me over for 2 years straight, they can lick my arse.

Just finished watching the 3rd episode.

Looks like they are touching on some of the Abu Ghraib type shit where orders come down from above but are denied later when the shit hits the fan.

Great show. Definitely the most realistic as far as what its like to be in the Marines and go to Iraq. The show was advised by a couple of the guys who went with the unit, and even has a couple of the guys who went acting in it.
