All our favorite movies are being remade lately and more often than not ruined because they were already awesome in the first place.

What are some movies you think had great storylines but could use a legitimate retooling with better production and acting etc?

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Jul 25,2008 12:50pm
I think today's special effects, computer graphics, and audience tolerance for gratuitous gore could really spruce up When Harry Met Sally.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Jul 25,2008 12:54pm
needs more fake o's

Im holding my breath until they make hudson hawk 2...

all three of the new star wars with actual props instead of CGI - and a new Indy movie that is as good as the first 3.
In other words, someone needs to smack Lucas around a little bit.

That would be disgusting but you have to give it to Hollywood. Some of that CGIing is fantastic. Sometimes it's hard to tell if it's real or not. Sometimes it's much too fake.

toggletoggle post by aril at Jul 25,2008 1:43pm
I love CGI if it's done well.
But I hate when it looks so cheesy and fake.
Look at Jurassic Park -- the dinosaurs looked much better than say, if they were 100% animated. The animation back in 1993 wasn't as good as it is today.

OH- they need to remake the Mario movie.

toggletoggle post by Martins   at Jul 25,2008 1:45pm
I was watching Jurassic Park the other day. Everything looked so fucking real in that movie. Even the fucking velociraptors. If their movements were less choppy I would have easily shit my pants wondering how the fuck they resurrected velociraptors.

i wanna see Jurassic Park in the Imax. i think i would simultaneously shit and piss myself.

Ice Pirates, Time Bandits, The Last Starfighter, War Games, E.T., Creature from the Black Lagoon, Quest for fire, Porky's, Spring Break, Tron etc................

toggletoggle post by aril at Jul 25,2008 3:00pm
a Tron remake would be interesting... but it might ruin it. one of the things that made the original was it somewhat represents the time period it came out in

toggletoggle post by Seth at Jul 25,2008 3:03pm
True!!! Also I think they should of remake schindler List, it is not as gory as I have heard stories from actuall relatives...I saw it in the theatres and expected much more horror and torture, but no luck. My grand parents told me stories when I was little, that I never became racist but just hate when people are oppressed. Sick shit first hand!!!

I would want it to be a oliver stone film and then get the extended version on 5 disk with bonuse features and re enactments. That way the world could really see what the jews, low class, Gypsies etc... and anyone who else apposed Hitler. For all you red necks and stupid people, remember you would of been killed for just being a American. Think about that when you think he is a idol!

toggletoggle post by demondave at Jul 25,2008 8:15pm

Without a doubt I would love to see the Ninth Gate remade. It started off really well, but lost its energy by the end.

look at that jew name, seth. is your last name greenburgsteingoldman?

damn those who apposed hitler, always juxtaposing him!!!

And Hitler is no idol, just an amazing orator. I wish we had rulers who could make a speech like he could. closest we have today is Nasrallah of Hezbollah, that guy can really gather a following with his oration.

and as for what they should remake.

a good remake of the wickerman, awesome concept, they did pretty well in the original but would be much creepier if they gave it a new spin...I heard that director made a remake of it already, only has something to do with christian cowboys sacrificing peeps.

ok i can definitely agree with this one. that first one was so fucking stupid. the only thing good about it was John Leguizamo as Clown. i knew it was going to suck, but when i saw that Chapel became a white woman named Priest, i wanted to find Todd McFarlane and vomit on his head.

No way! This movie is perfect just the way it is. You know if they remade it they're throw that mini-me pornstar shithead in for comic/popularity value.
As we all know, midgets are hilarious, but they're not supposed to be THAT funny in this movie.

hitchcock was awesome...."the lady vanished" left alot to the imagination, and if re-done could be one of the most perverse and disturbing films ever made.....
or better yet, have one of hitchcock's relatives bring back "hitchcock presents" and do a bunch of random episodes, and make them as brutal as possible.....imagine a version of "the sorcerers apprentice" where they actually show the brutal stabbing of the magician, or the chick in the box being hacked up by the giant circular saw.

of course, some of his stuff was so good, it left no room for improvement ("the cheney vase" is perfect)

I usually hate CGI, but i love the Star Wars "prequel trilogy" and i think too many people come down on Lucas for those flicks.....

The only "impossible-to-tolerate" aspects of those three movies were "Jar-Jar", "Young Boy Anakin", and all the overdone romance scenes between Skywalker and Amidala

They Live, Deadbeat At Dawn, Escape from New York.

Theres a remake of Bad Lieutenant coming up with Nicholas Cage. I realy hope this is good. It will definately be toned down, no way they will let it get a NC-17 rating.

are you daft? that would be awful. that movie is perfect exactly the way it is. no one could ever pull off the role that Rowdy Roddy Piper played. that epic fight scene would be all toned down and weak.
