Watched this last night. Simply stunning. it's very dark and gritty. The first hour or so of the movie has maybe 3 lines of actual dialogue but is some of the best cinema i've seen in a very very long time. You can tell Pixar really thought about this one and it definitely shows that they've been working on this movie for almost 10 years.

Some of the stuff Wall-E does is pretty funny and makes him a really lovable character. My favorite is probably when he finds a box with a diamond ring in it and throws away the ring and starts playing with the box.

I just told carina that I wanted to see this.

This movie was fucking adorable. Jon and I took Zoe last week.

My favorite was when Wall-E was fucking with Mo and putting dirt on his face.

I'm so gay.

I watched about 20 minutes and got bored... you guys are all gay

you would get a kick out of it. Wall-e's start up sound is the old Mac chime. And the autopilot of the ship is voiced by MacInTalk. There's a ton of apple references which is funny because the pixar CEO left Apple.

Do they acknowledge Short Circuit?

toggletoggle post by dertoxia   at Jul 14,2008 12:52am
the guy who wrote wall-e said he's only seen short circuit once and that any resemblance to johhny 5 is coincidental. I guess wall-e is based off a pair of binoculars.

Sounds like a lie to me.

I didn't know this movie was supposed to be so good.

pixar steps it up every movie. the image work is amazing in this one, comparable to their Finding Nemo.

it was a good weekend for movies, being sick and all.

i was not expecting this to be so good. great post apocalyptic storyline. i love how everyone got all fat from being taken care of for 700 years.

Great movie. one of the best of 08.

<3-----------
minus the fatties

Excellent movie for the 1st half, an ok movie for the 2nd half.
Wasn't too into how the story changed to a sudden "let's save humanity, and go back to earth!!!!1" movie. But what can you expect, target audience was mostly kids.

I would have prefered if it was a post-apocalyptic movie of survival rather than a bunch of fat slobs being controlled by robots in space.

better robot film then t4

It was social commentary on how much humans rely on technology for things. But then again, the irony is that they relied on technology to make the movie in the first place.
Therefore, this movie is an oxymoron of itself, and cancels itself out.

that is a stretch... its not like you could make the movie by yourself with all the tools they have

They relied on technology to make a movie with an underlying message of how technology is destroying the "human" side of us.
Could have just made a real movie with no CGI and props to stress that point and be less ironic in the process.. but it's rare to find a movie these days that doesn't use CGI.
Either way, the whole time I was watching it (I enjoyed the movie) I was thinking about how ironic it was. I mean the fat slobs sitting around in front of a monitor on a moveable chair could be the exact representation of the people at Pixar.

so weird, I am watching this right this very moment?

i dont understand the logic simply because you are just taking electronic/mechanical tools and making art with them in either case. When the computer does it for you completely then ill bite even though i wont have to :P

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jun 23,2009 7:09pm
haha, now I see what you mean. I guess that could make sense. It's all human effort (and a damn good one at that) to create something like they did. I guess my point was they still utilized technology in doing so. If they had hand drawn it or it was live-action it'd be a different story.
