I'm pretty sure the only reason it's 15 is because this venue is tiny(maybe 100 people) and It's not the cheapest of places to rent out.

BS. Rocko's can fit a couple hundred easy. It's a decent sized venue. If the place is too expensive to rent for shows then find another venue. When I started going to hardcore shows at Karma club in 1997 the cover was $10. 10 years later the cover for any show in Brockton was still $10. If you've got a band like Converge that needs a large guarantee you bump it to $12. They're gonna draw at least 200 kids, and sell a shit ton of merch. There's enough money there to pay for the venue, pay the supporting bands, and take home a good chunk of change.

That's not even the issue. Converge, or no Converge this should would have been $15 anyways.

I was pretty sure the capacity was lower than 200...maybe somewhere between 100-150. Trying to find a new venue is no easy task now-a-days. I'm not putting on this show, but when I did put on shows there were several available. Now most of them turn down shows, the ones that do allow shows ask for a completely outrageous rental fee, and sometimes require you to get insurance to cover their asses.

everybody has opinions of local promoters in the area, it just happens. I guess I've been lucky to get along/not get screwed by anyone really...with the exception of someone who USED to book in NH some years ago and a also someone showing up to the Through The Eyes of The Dead/Ed Gein/Despised Icon/In Dire Need show in Ashland telling the guys running the place and bands playing he booked it.

always remember that thing has an active EQ, not a passive like 99% of other amps. The slightest eq movement makes a drastic change in tone. I used to get killer tones out of my XXX. I kind of want another one. Did you end up buying that hush that someone here offered you?

i wouldnt say it has killer tones. its pretty much a one trick pony imo--but it excels in that one modern brutal vibe. my main complaint is that the mids are way white boy but i like the modern crunch/saturation for sure. its like a different unit with a hush. tried a tb and a super c. bith had different results.

I had an MXR eq in the loop of mine... made a huge difference.

i was recently offered a 32 band eq for dirt cheap but i thought to myself, as much as i would love to tweak until im 45 yrs old, an eq means that i dont actually dig the sounds that the head gets. if thats the case, i should just get an ENGL not an eq. plus, i like my signal chain tight n short.

all i need now is a 3 banger skb, a furman, a hush c, and a korg tuner.

Maybe the fire limit at Rockos is less than 200 (which doesn't make a ton of sense), but I've seen way more kids in way smaller places than Rockos. I guess it's small compared to Static X at the Tweeter Center or whatever you were doing before you all of a sudden started booking "hardcore shows."

If you can't afford a band, or a venue then don't book. Leave it for the real promoters.

I felt sick to my stomach knowing that I played a show that expensive. Hoods are a great band, that draw well, but unless you're paying them in diamonds it's still an $8 - $10 show anywhere else but an "I'm Thirsty """Production"""".

The music industry is a tough business and you either make it or you don't.

I'm Thirsty Entertainment is one of the only booking agencies in this state to consistently bring big package shows (and yes, I know Mark's Showplace but they can bite it). It's not easy doing what he does and I would know because I helped with most of it for almost 6 months.

Getting Converge in Manchester is a big deal in my eyes. A $15 cover charge is nothing. Converge is charging $2000 just to play so you should be grateful someone else is dealing with that and not you.

I play NYC all the time. I've never had to deal with a bad promoter. In fact I played an awesome show last summer in Brooklyn that a 17 year old kid booked. The turnout was great. The show was insane, and all the bands made out well. It just goes to show that it takes way more effort to be a shitty promoter than a good one, which is why it's so necessary to make fun of them when they pop up.

I ran in "just in time" to catch converge. it was excellent once you got past the whole bar sound system. I'm amazed that all the mirrors stayed on the walls there. As for all only new songs, I think that you can connect the dots with the set list:

Notice songs from all other their catelog. The best thing is the kids, young and old, who come to these shows and totally rage. I knew this show would do really well, but when I got there, everyone was still all smiles in the crowd. I was 1/2 expecting a warzone from just the opening bands. There was one point where jake pushed into the crowd and then I saw more than 3 people into the crowd. Some kids nose exploded like that guys exploding head in scanners. I wished I had my new stickers... I'm going to start taking pictures of people with them.
One of my favorite things is trying to get colors in the audience just snap out. I get a lot of practice with that and the contrast of dark tattoos against pale skin.

That was the best show I've ever been to.
