Misery Index (Jason Netherton – bass/vocals, Sparky Voyles – guitar, Adam Jarvis – drums, Mark Kloeppel – guitar/vocals) will enter the studio today to begin recording the follow-up to their Relapse Records debut, Discordia.

This album, tentatively titled Traitors, is being recorded in Salem, MA with Kurt Ballou (Disfear, Coliseum) at Ballou's Godcity studios. Advance song titles include title track "Traitors", along with "Ghosts of Catalonia", Thrown Into The Sun", and "Occupation". A late-summer, early-fall release is expected.

Prior to entering the studio, Jarvis comments: "I have honestly never been so excited about recording an album." And Voyles adds: "We're really looking forward to working with Kurt. We're all big fans of his work and production. We know he will do the songs justice."

Sweet deal.

Best news I've heard all day. Kurt recorded one of my older bands' CD's, and he definitely has an ear for metal. Can't wait for this one to drop.

i actually want to hear bass on this cd.

and i hope that drummer of theirs has gotten better, he needs to start living up to the legacy of talley and whoever the other guy was.

toggletoggle post by mOe  at May 6,2008 4:31pm
yea, and he should start by not triggering everything to high hell...their last album had no punch or low end...it was just all mids and highs

*shudders*

i kinda think all these production problems are the reason theyre going to Godcity this time

toggletoggle post by mOe  at May 6,2008 4:44pm
their last cd just had NO power to it and I blame the triggered drums

toggletoggle post by todayistheday nli at May 6,2008 4:53pm

What, you guys don't like your toms to sound like cardboard boxes? I agree about his lack of groove btw.

How ya doing by the way fellas? Been a while since I've been on here.

Such a shame i never got out to any of the last Clitorture shows. How you been?

I was just listening to the entire Misery Index catalogue today and for the first time I heard how shitty the drums sound on the newest release...even though I've had it since it came out and listened to it many times. I guess I just had my shit EQed perfectly to hear how ugly the drum sound is.

toggletoggle post by mOe  at May 7,2008 4:45pm
yea, its all kinds of awful
triggaz 4 lyfe!

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at May 7,2008 4:46pm
Triggers are ok if you know how to EQ them; triggering AND mic'ing at the same time is good if you're tight as fuck too. Mike's kick is triggered and mic'ed on the Composted stuff and it sounds perfect.

toggletoggle post by blue  at May 7,2008 4:46pm
that and the dude is rigid as fuck when he plays. swear to god, he couldnt half time the cymbals if his life depended on it.

toggletoggle post by mOe  at May 7,2008 5:06pm
yea oddly enough the only time i used tom triggers was for the RWK recording but those were triggered/close miced and then blended together
