I'm trying to create a web page/site using the iMac program. I want to be able to have it where it is split screen so that the left part of the page is always stationary but when a link is clicked the new info comes on only the right half the page, not redirected to another page. Can this be done and if so how?

Ummm..ok...I should have prefaced this that I am extremely computer illiterate...please explain

toggletoggle post by thuringwethil at Feb 24,2008 9:26am
you should use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) instead

but here's an article

I can't even find that option...it seems so focused on movies and pics as opposed to just making a web site

BTW thanks for the article...not sure if HTML can be used on this program because it's mostly drag and pull over templates but I'll try!

wow, I'm on a MacBook and just opened iWeb for the first time, what a pain in the ass! I see no HTML viewer/tweaker.

I usually use Dreamweaver or BBEdit

is your site online right now, can I see?

Back when I made websites, I just used Notepad. Best way to learn to make a website besides a program like Dreamweaver.

it's not online becuase I was hoping to figure out how to get everything I wanted before i published it...I saw a forum...it's talks about widgets, and folders and tags...i get the concept but have no idea how to get started and set it up

Back in the day I had a Windows computer.

Use TextEdit, he must.

toggletoggle post by MASlayer at Feb 24,2008 10:39am
weather notepad or textedit, i still wouldn't know where to store the code and make it work

toggletoggle post by thuringwethil at Feb 24,2008 10:44am
well you need a hosting server, are you on that .mac thing or something?

I'll bet your ISP has built-in web hosting features, sometimes they even provide a design template for you

toggletoggle post by MASlayer at Feb 24,2008 10:56am
yeah I got the template going and know the design to do, already started it and it is on .mac...just don't know how to do the technical stuff
