This strikes me as one of those movies that I'd like, but would hate 90% of the people who like it. |

Must be the whole Pisces thing.

This movie was was indeed excellent. Wonderful acting from the entire cast, except maybe Jennifer Garner. |
|
that chick was fucking frightening in Hard Candy. i'll wait till dvd for this one though. |
|
i haven't seen this movie yet.
but i have been listening to the soundtrack all night.
if its as good as the soundtrack then it will be good. |
|
Where'd you get the soundtrack? I went to Newbury Comics last week and they said it wouldn't be out till the 8th. |
|
i liked the part when somebody mentioned Wizard of Gore and Suspiria and then i went back to ignoring the movie and wondering what kinda wacky hijinx John C Reilly was getting into in the next theater over. whatta stinker. |
|
YES! She was amazing in Hard Candy. Anyone who hasn't seen that must go get it NOW. |

not sure if this is a joke but Hard Candy is far from a romantic comedy, and I wouldnt count Juno as a romantic comedy either
I just say this today

soundtrack was great too |
|
I thought this movie was going to be about kikes playing cards and eating deep dish pizza...boy was I disappointed. |
|
wow. I only just noticed it was Ellen Page from Hard Candy. Yikes!
the Nazi guy Schillinger from OZ plays her father too?
this looks like a good movie. |

Saw this a while ago, and here's what I thought.
Overall I'd give this 3.5 stars out of 5, with a slight nod towards 4 stars. It's a fun movie with an interesting take on a old theme. A lot of it made me laugh, and overall I was glad I saw it.
BUT was anyone else in excruciating pain for the first half hour or so? The dialog at the beginning of the movie was so unbelievably over the top. It definitely got better as the film progressed, but the early scenes with Rainn Wilson, and the phone call scene were so poorly written. The first thing I thought was "Wow, whoever wrote this really doesn't understand people at all." It tried way too hard to be clever.
And speaking of Rainn Wilson, why is he only in 3 minutes of the movie? Why is Jason Bateman's character so dry, and underused? Why does Michael Cera have so little diaglog? These are all incredible comedic actors who are doing nothing in a movie that is supposed to be a comedy. Way too much of the dialog was reserved for Juno's Daria-esque way-too-mature-to-really-be-16 dialog. It made me kind of resent her character sometimes.
If you can ignore this film trying (and I mean really trying) to take a bite out of Wes Anderson's style, it's not a bad film, and definitely worth seeing. Although I don't think it'll be quite worth the indie acclaim that it will probably recieve. |
|
This movie was alright. I thought there was some completely ridiculous shit that I wasted to hang myself while i was watching it. I also couldnt stand juno. What the fuck no 16 year old in the history of the world has ever acted liek that. Set up a chair and table in that kids front lawn, then leave it there? come on. and the acting was boring. Funny at times but i was getting sleepy throughout the whole thing. I agree this movie tried to hard to be clever and this movie was not as good as the hype. |
|
Nd the fucking soundtrack was so lame. IT was like they were trying to rip off the postal service. Wicked indie gay |
|
I think I'll check this one out. It strikes me as the new Little Miss Sunshine (which was OK at best, but was raved about for a year) so I wasn't going to, but my curiosity is getting me. |

That is part of why I have VERY mixed feelings about these quirky weird movies like this, Ghost World, anything by Wes Anderson, ect.
They try WAY too hard to be as unreal and strange as possible and a lot of times you just can not feel for these characters or connect with them on any level. If I wanted that shit, I'd watch David Lynch movies and be amused by the pure fucking insanity of it.
Plus, they also inspire a bunch of fucked up fan-girls usually from art schools to worship and mimic these gaddman things |

HELL YEAH BROTHA
IT WAS WRITTEN BY A TRUE BLUE HO, A STRIPPER WHO RENAMED HERSELF CODY DIABLO
SHE BLEW SOME PRODUCERS AND MADE THIS PILE OF CRAP
IT'S SAPPY DRAMA FOR PEOPLE WITH BROKEN LIVES
NOW THIS NIGGA IS TOO SMART FOR THAT
IMA GONNA SIT IN BACK
AND WHEN THEY START CRYING IN THE MIDDLE ROWS
WELL A NIGGA GOTTA GET LAID HOW HE CAN
BLACK POWER! |
|
I thought it was lackluster... it should've been better but it just wasn't... though I will give them points for the foreign horror references, not to mention the Melvins haha |

I don't know about the rest of the soundtrack but the song in the trailer is a Moldy Peaches song from before The Postal Service even formed. I'm sure the rest is indie-as-fuck. |
|
Michael Cera is pretty fucking funny; I see good things in his future. |
|
is this worth the ten bucks?
i'm thinking of seeing it today or with my friend next week....
well i do have free movie passes so i might use them on this. |
|
I saw Juno 2 weeks ago, I liked it. |
|
excellent movie i must say. ellen page has a brilliant career ahead of her. |
|
I think I'm going to see it based on my devotion to Arrested Development and the fact that Michael Cera and Jason Bateman have some of the best on-screen chemistry together |
|

just saw this movie for the first time and i agree with you 100%. the first 30-45 mins made me think it would be the worst movie ever. i hated all the characters up to that point and thought diablo cody or whatever her name is sucked at writing movies. it was a decent movie and i enjoyed the second half of it, but it didn't live up to all the hype. people were cumming up their nostrils about this movie and it really wasn't earth-shattering. also, i thought the soundtrack mostly sucked. what an annoying collection of songs. decent movie, i give it a 3 out of 5, not the 80 billion out of 5 that everyone else was giving it. |
