scored this last night. I'm missing most of the catalog from Hammerheart on through Nordland I. I'm actually kinda more partial to the more epic style of songwriting on Nordland I and Hammerheart versus the early albums. Nonetheless, Blood Fire Death is a total masterpiece. I dunno, random Bathory chat I guess. What should I go for next? I'll probably go with Nordland II regardless but if I have to choose between these, gimme your thoughts!

If you like Nordland part 1, part 2 is equally amazing - I couldn't see having one without the other, really! The Nordland albums are, to me, Bathory's best as far as the epic/viking stuff goes, with Hammerheart right behind them.
Personally I am more partial to the early Bathory albums, mainly because of the raw, gritty thrashing style and cheesy Satanic lyrics - I have to be in the right mood for the epic stuff, I'm normally more apt to play the early thrash albums.

nordland 1, and 2 are cool but can't touch the early albums at all.

requiem is an ok death/thrash record. not essential but a fun listen from time to time. came out in 94.

octagon is pretty horrible. destroyer of worlds is total garbage.

if you take the old unreleased/demo/comp tracks from the comp albums jubileum 1-3, it's basically an awesome "early unreleased record" that is just as cool as the first three albums. i made a nice burn in this order for myself.

So, verdict after a few years from this thread being made: TWILIGHT OF THE GODS is my personal favorite. It holds up so fucking well for me.
