My snare is currently and has been missing since the Ramming Speed/I, Adapt show on thursday in brookline. I just realized it was missing yesterday morning and none of the other bands from the show have seen it. At this point I'm going to have to assume someone stole it from the show when we were loading out, as thats the last time I saw it. The little guy looks something like this:

Though I don't think thats the exact model, the drum IS a metal gretsch snare with black finish. If you see anyone playing one of these, hear someone bragging about finding one, etc etc, please let me know. thanx.

I hope who ever stole it is being creative with it at least and in 6 months when you get a journal full of pictures from it's trip around the world, you will be psyched.

I fucking hate people who steal instruments. I got a whole thing of drum mics stolen from me once and a guitar.

Another time we were playing this show in easthampton and a kid got all his cymbols stolen. Id kill somone if i knew it was them.

Been there. I've had a pedal board stolen with about $400 worth of stomp boxes and monster cables connecting them and a duffle bag with almost as much monster cables, mics and footswitches. Luckily I was able to claim the duffle bag being stolen on my commercial insurance as "mysterious disappearance."

toggletoggle post by sxealex   at Oct 8,2007 11:31pm

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Oct 8,2007 11:45pm

*frownz*

I can't remember which show I was playing, but it was out of state and there were a shitload of really sketchy looking dudes hanging around our equipment. When they were loading out I noticed they had my guitar case. I stopped them and made sure there was no way for them to get away from me if I had to pound some idiot's face in. They tried to play it off like it was mixed in with their stuff, even though they already loaded all the guitar/bass equipment in their van. Turns out they stole like 3 things from the other bands playing. I saw one of the kids at another show locally and found it odd. The second he saw me coming towards him he fled fast. What the fuck is wrong with people?

We were playing a show at the Palladium once with a bunch of bands we didn't know. After we played, we always had at least one person guarding our shit. At some point somebody came over, looked at us, then walked by us and grabbed 2 guitars from another band's shit and started walking out. We assumed he was in a band. I guess the guy was walking out the door when security stopped him. He told them he was helping carry stuff out for us. The security guy brought him over to us and explained his story. We then told him that it wasn't our gear and we've never seen this asshole before in our lives. Security-dude grabbed the dude and dragged him out towards the lobby. Supposedly the Palladium called the cops. I hope the Palladium staff beat the shit out of him.

Always beat the shit out of someone who steals some else's gear.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Oct 9,2007 10:37am
I'm so paranoid about this kind of stuff happening. There is just too much stuff small enough to walk off with that is expensive enough to be a pain in the ass to replace at shows.

The way I have my rig organized it would be difficult for someone to steel something from me. I guard it like a pitbull too.

Although, it's much harder for a drummer to keep an eye on everything. I always maid sure my drumset had the absolute minimal amount of everything for shows so there's less to get stolen, and I used pretty identifyiable stands, drums, cymbals, etc.

toggletoggle post by metal_church101  at Oct 9,2007 11:27am
It's usually the small stuff in your gear that seems to grow legs like pedal boards, snare drums, duffle bags, ....

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Oct 9,2007 11:41am
I keep all my shit pretty organized and in cases. I always have a mental checklist of everything I'm packing up. I've never left anything behind at a show or had something swiped.

I'm going to spray paint every piece of equipment I own bright fucking fluorescent green so no one can ever pull that type of shit with me.

In one of my old bands' practice space, our drummer jammed with a kid named Larry every so often. Larry used my equipment every single time, even though everyone that ever stepped foot in that room knew not to use my stuff without permission. Week by week, I'd be missing one chord here, one chord there, a pedal would be missing then turn up again all fucked up, and my levels were always retarded (gain all the way up, volume all the way up, treble all the way up). One day Larry decided to start bringing his own gear into the space so I disconnected about 75% of the wires in anything that was his. I put ketchup in his Metal Zone pedal too. Needless to say, he was never seen in that room again.

You should have just fucked that nigga up, yo!

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Oct 9,2007 12:35pm
It would have been an unfair advantage at the time; a burly 19 year old vs. a short, chubby, affeminate screamo kid would not have bode well for him.

Niccolai has a picture of this kid wearing a g-string. Niccolai...post it. PLEASE!

toggletoggle post by jonahatgirlshouse at Oct 11,2007 12:00pm
brian, your perth cd is packed up and ready to go. I've been dealing with a lot of shit and it hasn't made it to the post office yet. I'm terribly sorry.

as for the drum, I'm totally fucked. has anyone heard ANYTHING?

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Oct 11,2007 12:38pm
I've been checking craigslist and a few music shops and I haven't seen anything. I've got my eyes peeled for you though Jonah. Hopefully it turns up.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Oct 11,2007 12:46pm
I'm not really overly concerned about the CD, things tend to get to me eventually.

As far as the snare goes, I'll keep an eye out.

toggletoggle post by blue  at Oct 11,2007 4:54pm
jonah, make sure you call every music store in boston that takes in used gear! i think you know that already.

toggletoggle post by drummy at Oct 11,2007 4:58pm

Larry is actually the same age as you Mark.. he was fair game.

there should be an easy online automated service for this shit... like enter serial number etc if something is stolen like this and store will pick up on it and call the cops. computers could scan craigslist and stuff too.

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Oct 11,2007 11:57pm
Larry is the same age as me?? Well, whatever. He got what he deserved since he's on the internet in a g-string for all to see, hahahaha.

ironically, their was an article I was reading that Brookline, of all places, has one of these. They said the tragedy is no one uses it as much as they should.

If I was in Brookline and my shit was snagged, I'd use it.

toggletoggle post by the_taste_of_cigarettes  at Oct 12,2007 12:08am
well, it's more a database the brookline police uses that stores the SN's of retrieved stolen goods, and they list them online. You can check the listing and see if anything turns up.

You are the man. I got the CD and the added bonus which made it well worth any wait.

Still haven't seen the snare around any stores =(

The snare is back safe and sound in front of my bass drum. Thank god.

Glad you got the CD's alright, if you're into them spread the word!
