Tim (vocals) and I (Blue, guitar) are looking to start a new project now that Porphyria is currently inactive. We are currently searching for competent drummers and bassists to rock with us.

Influences: Suffocation, Inveracity, Deeds of Flesh, Inherit Disease, Malignancy, Goratory, Psycroptic, Carcass, Spawn of Possession, Cannibal Corpse, Devourment, etc etc etc...

Drummers:
-Must be over 21
-Must be proficient in extreme metal styles (i.e. BLAST really well/groove also mandatory)
-Must be able to hit hard (Don't care if you use triggers, you'd better be able to pull it off without)
-Must have professional equipment (your Pearl Export you've had for 10 years isn't going to cut it)
-Must have reliable transportation
-Be able to practice once a week in the Manchester NH/Boston area, possibly more
-Must have the willingness to record/play shows (possibly tour in the future)
-Must not be racist, sexist, bigot or a general asshole

Bassists:
-Must be over 21
-Must be proficient in bass (fingerstyle/slap technique a plus, but were down with tha sick pickers too)
- We tune to B, so 5 string bass is pretty much essential
-Must have professional equipment (No, your 150 watt bass combo isn't going to work)
-Must have reliable transportation
-Be able to practice once a week in the Manchester NH/Boston area, possibly more
-Must have the willingness to record/play shows (possibly tour in the future)
-Must not be racist, sexist, bigot or a general asshole

pfft Blue you play bass with a pick brosef. Someone who knows tone like you should know it doesn't make a difference, depending on the bassist. If someone's good with whatever they use, can shred, and it sounds good, it doesn't freakin matter.

Playing finger style is a lot better IMO, different timbre and attack on the strings. A lot of pick bassists that I see end up being hacks and can't finger tap, play arpeggios or do shit

I only bothered to comment because they're might be some awesome bassists out there turned away by the fingers-only thing. Yeah let's not keep this argument going in this thread. It's about Blue's new band, not this age old argument. I've said my piece. And yes, a pick bassist would be fine for most of Goratory's riffs, he would just need to tap and slap where appropriate.

doesnt the bassist from Malignancy use a pick? he's wicked nasty. while i myself am a finger-style elitist, i totally dont see a problem if the guy is really really good.

I think the whole pick vs. fingers bullshit is 70 percent of pick bassists often appear to be a guitarist who prefered less strings.

I don't know for sure, I'm a fingerer when it comes to fingering my bass. Never used a pick, I can't even hold one right, that's how fucking leet I am.
