toggletoggle post by archaeon at Aug 2,2007 9:54pm
They're just so mediocre, it's not even worth listening to. I've gave them plenty of chances, and then realized, oh yea there's thousands of other bands that do this WAYYYYY better.

I want to hate Job For A Cowboy for so many reasons (i.e. horrible name, even worse logo, they are douchebags (in accordance with Dane from Porphyria's past situation with them), and don't deserve 90% of the credit they receive) but their new material really is pretty good. The EP is annoying as hell, but it seems they stepped it up with the full length. Regardless of liking them, I will not support them in any way, shape or form.

toggletoggle post by archaeon at Aug 2,2007 10:43pm
Based off the songs on their myspace, they aren't bad. Just not worth the hype. Kind of like The Faceless.

they're my favorite NSBM band

their guitar playist is straight aryan

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Aug 3,2007 9:03am
honestly, I think taking the brees away was a terrible idea. He obviously overdid them and they just sounded out of place, but he replaced it by doing the same monotone David Vincent wannabe growl over the entire album...which I couldn't get through to the end either time I tried to listen to it. Its not bad, but that's not acceptable just because I thought their EP was shit. Very bland and same-ish. I see why people like Dwyer are standing up for them, and I think they have more potential than people give them credit. But I was never compelled to listen to that after the first week I dl'd it.

whats so sub-par about it? i can understand not liking the vocals or whatever but i dont understand how you can knock the guitar/drum work.

I actually had a chance to listen to genesis all the way through, And I still cannot get into them. Although I saw this chick the other day wearing a jfac shirt,She was a wicked hot blonde, But when her 6'8 ish (who i assumed to be her) dad, came around the corner, I realized she could not have been more than 15-16, Damn I don't know what they got in the water up here, But it could get a man in serious trouble.

I'm not really knocking them on their playing ability, its obvious they're talented players, but to me, its sub-par because it sounds like they're just playing technical shit just for the sake of being technical and trying to be guitar heroes. Plus the polished and over-produced sound kills whatever "brutality" they're going for. In the late 80's-early 90's death metal bands had some fucking sick guitar sounds back then (Entombed's classic rusty chainsaw sound, Cannibal Corpse's on Tomb...) Today it sounds like they all turn all the knobs up to 11 and then polish it to a high gloss in some hot shot studio....it just destroys the whole atmosphere of the album, instead of imagining this music belching forth from some dirty sewer, you just imagine some dorky looking guys with headphones in a real nice studio carefully picking away...
Whatever, I'll take Repulsion over this stuff any day.

I guess its matter of perception. I dont have quite the musical background as you apparently, seeing has how i was a toddler in the 80's. I'm just sick of people bashing bands without any constructive critiscism. I'll check out this Repulsion you speak of and see how it compares. I'm all about discovering new bands (well new to me anyways.)

toggletoggle post by VomittingCarcass   at Aug 3,2007 4:12pm edited Aug 3,2007 4:14pm
How could any true death metal fan not love hearing early 90s riffs chopped up, re-aranged, and played over emo beats, stopping and restarting at a different time signature the second you start to bang your head? AND The Faceless need to stop stealing from Chuck. This new Death Core (Death Emo) bullshit needs to be forgotten.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Aug 3,2007 4:14pm
i guess i'm not true enough. pffft.

toggletoggle post by VomittingCarcass   at Aug 3,2007 4:24pm edited Aug 3,2007 4:24pm
ya they're allright, whatever. I actually like the vox cuz its wierd and sounds kinda original. the faceless riffs just really sound way too familiar, and theres this whole wave of hyper clean production, digital sounding amps, loud vocals, random riffs of no relation over emo break down/ start stop beats. They all sounds the same: Antigama, JFACB, ManMustDie, the Faceless, From the Shallows, As Blood Runs Black, Ling Che. IMO, you should be able to tell the difference in bands by the guitars and drums, not just how many times a second the vocalist says Breee.

toggletoggle post by Brandon.. at Aug 3,2007 5:30pm
Dude the faceless is way better and way more talented than job for a cowboy. In every area, drums vocals, guitar and bass. Who ever said the new jfac cd was talented wasnt correct. The druming is definatley good. But the guitar work is lame and basic. I enjoyed the first cd when i originally heard it. Now it does nothing for me. The brees to me are sorta lame, But if not done so much it would be fine. The problem is they are hardcore kids who decided to step it up on the next album and be total death/metal. But only to realize theres no heart what so ever in that cd, It bores me to shit. Plus the vox are lame.

P.s I do not get the meaning of that picture.

well im listening the Faceless, Alkadema again just to try and stay open minded, but I just cant get into it with non stop stopping/starting. The riffs and production sound like necrophagist (only not as good), then theres this insanely lame singing part, that makes me want to kill them for being crying pussies. Then listen to this bio: "who have formed to astonish their live audiences with dizzying guitar work, lightning fast drumming and unmatched brutality." k, they obviously havnt listend to Suffocation, Deicide, Morbid Angel, (the list is nearly endless of bands that dont puss out in the middle of songs with crying singing and teary eyed keyboard parts). I try not to judge on appearence, but these guys look like thy just got done sobbing into their pillow about how their girlfriend doesnt understand how hard their life is, only to stop crying after remembering how much they love themselves:

toggletoggle post by archaeon at Aug 3,2007 5:58pm
although i don't like the faceless, I must disagree with mitch here. I'd rather have a band do something different thats gay, then do the same repeat the same shit that was done 20 years ago. I don't think the faceless have any "crying" emo parts either. but i haven't listened to the CD. Maybe they do.

I was a toddler in the 80s myself actually, I was born in '84. I'm not one of those douches who only likes 80s metal just to impress the older dudes either, I guess I just have more appreciation for the bands who helped create and develop the styles rather than just play a watered down version of whats already been done time and time again. And yeah I hate when people shit on bands for no reason, if I offer my opinion that I don't like a certain band, I'll state my reasons why, and its not just because "uhhh they suck, they have shirts at Hot Topic..."

As for Repulsion, they definitely don't sound anything like JFAC; its very raw, simple, fast grinding death metal; they're actually credited more with starting grindcore than death metal. But definitely check them out anyway, they fucking destroy!

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Aug 3,2007 6:02pm
only sung part I can remember is at the beginning of the song that sounds like a cynic cover...and it's done with the cynic styled synth vocals. Definitely not emo.

let's face it, if these kids had less fans and looked like how metal kids looked 20 years ago everyone would be sucking their dicks.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Aug 3,2007 6:11pm
Ok, so I checked out Repulsion. While, yes, I do have respect for bands that paved the way for heaviness and all that good stuff, this is just not aesthetically pleasing to my set of ears. I guess when listening to bands like JFAC and the Faceless i just enjoy the riffs, their transitions and the general structures of the songs. Regardless, if everyone liked the same shit this would be a boring fucking world.

You're an idiot. Listen to it, then decide if you like it. Don't say you're not gonna like it just because that's what everyone else doesn't like it. Don't judge a book buy it's cover and don't judge a movie by it's hype.

I'm gonna just say it: I think Genesis is much better than doom. I think so because they stopped doing the excessive brees, they stepped it up with the technicality, and it's just overall better.

it all comes down to the "problem" of metal's mainstream popularity right now.

I had a big rant that I was going to post and then deride but I don't feel like it. I'm gonna go hang out in the party hard thread.

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Aug 4,2007 9:37pm
All these threads and such is giving them an edge by having their name discussed which therefore piques the interest of those who haven't heard the music. Who knows, maybe they even like them. And thus, JFAC has won because they get more fans.

Way to give them such an edge.
