Hi, folks,

Bear with me, because this post may be a tad lengthy.

I'd like to address a few issues:

1. I realize I've offended people with the phrase "F*ck the Fire Department". I was, in all honesty, doing it to be humorous. I'm from the 80's (yeah, I know I'll get slagged on for admitting that...oh well!) and haven't learned to play the game of political-correctness yet. So, yeah, I screwed up. If I had known that using that phrase would result in the generation of more whining than an emo concert, I would have totally avoided it. My bad. I admit it. So let's move on here...

2. I am NOT against firefighters. I'm not against anyone, really.

3. I am sad that my club is closing because the owner can't afford to put in a $40,000 sprinkler system. He already has a $770,000 mortgage on the building and could lose his house if he tries to extend that mortgage. This puts all my staff out of work, and it is very stressful. So, I vented. Maybe it went too far.

4. I really did try to provide a service to the metal community by creating a night for just metal every Sunday. We were pretty much the only club doing this after O'Briens went on hiatus. I really enjoy heavier music and wanted to open the Skybar to this. I did what I could. I tried.

5. I used to get mad when people called me "shocking" or "controversial". Then I decided not to let it bother me, and just run with it, if that is what people's opinion is. So, now, I just take it in stride, and with humor. (Is it okay to display and appreciate humor, or did that go out with the 80's, too?)

In summary, okay, I chose the wrong phrase, and I'm sorry it rubbed people the wrong way. Let's let it drop. This has taken up far too much of your time and attention, which could be better spent on learning about and discussing good local bands.

I'm not looking for sympathy, etc., and I'm sorry if my stress levels escalated to the point of me "pissing people off". This was never my intent.

~Anders Othniel (and no, "Othniel" is not some "goth" name - it's Hebrew for "lion" and a nick since childhood).

I think people on the bsr board would care about stuff like that, not here

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Jul 4,2007 5:26pm
i think it's a pretty sincere apology.

Ironic! Didn't the Egyptians feed JEWS to lions?
So, a jew named after a lion would translate as "One Who Eats Jews"

You dirty Jew eating slut.

Other than the Bible isn't there no historical evident that Jews were even in Egypt? But I guess Egyptians have probably fed every type of person to a lion at some time in their 3000+ years of existence. The Romans fed Christians to lions though.

No, I think it's MarkFuckingRichards that feeds christians to lions. The romans were way to busy having gay sex in bath houses.

I think to be an apology, one actually needs to say they're sorry at some point.

I just read a big long dodgy and meandering excuse.

That's not "I'm sorry I eat Jews and embarrass the bands I book with ignorant declarations of my free spirited, middle finger waving theories of government fascism and evil fireman driven conspiracies.

Seriously, did we really need HTL booking shows?

She ate a jew. I'm sorry, apologies will never fix that.

But in all seriousness, evasive excuse laden apologies don't cut it with me. It shouldn't with anyone. I read it twice, and got a clear implication of "I'm sorry what I did had such a negative repercussion against myself".

not

"I'm sorry for what I did."

Frankly, I just love the drama. I could give half a taco bell shit about this chick.

I love when people are sorry only because what they did/said was perceived in such a negative manner rather than be sorry for what they did/said.

No, I think your butt fed butts to your butt. And I was busy having gay sex with all your female women with vaginas.

I also think she should fuck the firemen. Spread those Joan Jett looking legs and at the very least, let a few of the SFD have their way with that snatch.

Gas the fire department Jews, and feed the promoter-Christians to the lions. Eugenics now!

yeah, that's exactly what I saw too... her apologizing and excusing herself for ruining her "career" as a booking agent, as none of us will most likely ever work with her again (I know I definitely won't)

and the whole "attn: DreamingInExile" thread was quite amusing also, because I called her out just a tad more then all the other people that tore into her someone had to put their two cents in.

oh, and after telling my dad about the thread, as I was laughing at your stupidity, he sends his best:

The Internet is buzzing with rumors that Danny DeVito was inebriated during his Wednesday morning appearance on the daytime talk show "The View."

The actor, who was on the show to promote his movie "Deck the Halls," admitted he had been partying with George Clooney the night before and had not slept.

"I knew it was the last seven limoncellos that was going to get me," the actor told the show's co-hosts.

DeVito looked tired and frazzled. He occasionally slurred his speech, some of which was bleeped by the show's producers.

Some of the talk surrounding DeVito's appearance focuses on a long-winded anecdote he told about staying at the White House.

Seeming confused over whether he slept with his wife Rhea Perlman when he stayed in the Lincoln bedroom, DeVito said, "I don't know. Something happens when you go in that hallway. You start not recognizing women."

"No, it was Rhea," he continued. "We went in and we made it our business to really wreck the joint."

DeVito Calls Walters

DeVito's publicist, Stan Rosenfield, told ABC News that the actor has called Barbara Walters to apologize, "The View's" creator and co-host.

"He has called Barbara Walters to apologize for anything that could be construed as unfortunate," he said.

Rosenfield said he has no idea whether DeVito was drunk during his appearance but emphasized that the actor has never had a problem with drinking.

He should only have apoligized for marrying Rhea Pearlman. Although that one may be unforgivable.

Booking agents are a dime a dozen in this town, and burn out quickly. Othni has been at this over 13 years, and she's booked at The Palladium before - alot of clubs wouldn't discount that.
