I'm having one of those "bored with all the video games I'm playing right now" days, so I decided to go through the stack of jewel cases and load up some oldies. Fucked around with Command and Conquer: Renegade before I remembered why that game blew (it's cool online, though), and now I'm loading up Doom 3.
I never got through it the last time I played; I hadn't even gotten to the point where (I assume) it gets really crazy, I was still at the part where they throw like, 1 or 2 zombies at you every 15 minutes. We'll see if I possess the necessary intestinal fortitude to finish it this time.
Anybody know of any good Doom 3 mods? Total conversions?
Doom 3 is fucking great. One thing you can do is unzip the pk4 files and find the file that is responsible for controlling the rate of fire, damage, ammo capacity of the guns. You can make a shotgun that shoots faster than a minigun.

I highly recommend the Phantasm mod. There is a classic Doom conversion in which the recreated a couple of levels from the original Doom.
when you start out doom 3 you think "well gee...this is a pretty easy game"
but shit....it turns on you near the second half...gets fucking tough after awhile
Shit, I'm just having trouble with the imps at the beginning. I can never manage to get out of their line of fire unless I waste them on the first shot.
Also... go into the console and type "seta g_showplayershadow 1" without quotes. That will enable YOUR shadow to show up. It adds to the atmosphere a lot I think. Plus your own shadow will scare the fuck out of you in some situations.
