has anyone seen this? it was really fucking good. i'm not huge into Oriental films, but this Korean director, Chan-Wook Park, makes some good stuff. its very long and artsy, but its a great tale of vengeance. a woman is wrongfully imprisoned, is released, and the rest of the movie is her avenging the sentence. its not horror or anything, it does have violence, but its not focused on that. the whole presentation is great.

a brief synopsis.

"After a 13-year imprisonment for the kidnap and murder of a 6 year old boy, beautiful Lee Guem-ja starts seeking revenge on the man that was really responsible for the boy's death. With the help of fellow inmates and reunited with her daughter, she gets closer and closer to her goal. But will her actions lead to the relief she seeks?"

My meathead response:
1. Is she hot?
2. Any n00d scenes?

Chan-Wook Park is always a blast! Even though he just borrows bits and pieces from those that came before him, he really knows what to do with them. His first movie, Joint Security Area is also well worth checking out. Supposedly he is making the feature that the character of his segment of 3 Extremes was making, which appeared to be a vampire film that will no doubt kick loads of ass.

Korea has been killing it the last few years with Tale of Two Sisters, Summer-Spring-Fall-Winter-and Spring, 3 Iron, and The Host. Definitely one of the most exciting countries making movies right now.

I like Old Boy better. Old Boy is fucking bad ass. I guess 'Old Boy', 'Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance', and 'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance' are supposed to be a set, albeit not necessarily directly related. I think I saw the Lady Vengeance, but Old Boy was good shit.
