Suffocation's contract with Relapse Records has run its course and the band is now officially without a label. Here's a statement from the group:

"Suffocation is happy to announce that we've fulfilled our contractual obligations to Relapse Records and are now free agents again. We would like to thank all on the Relapse staff for their support and efforts. We've learned valuable lessons over the past few years.

We are looking forward to what the future will bring, we have many goals and ideas in the works that will definitely make for a focused and eventful future for the band. At this point of our career the goal is to make the next steps the most important ones. Propelling the band as well as the Extreme metal genre to the next level is top priority.

It is long over due and we look forward to the challenge and opportunity to right the wrongs that has kept the genre underground and unexposed since its inception. Stay tuned."

Weird, wonder where they'll go.

As long as a mainstream label doesn't force a band to change it's sound or the way they present themselves but encourages what they've been doing for years, I think that's perfectly fine.

I think a lot of bands have had a problem with relapse. Nile I think was one of them. makes you wonder how they run their business.

Translation: We are the latest in a long long line of bands that got totally fucked by Relapse but are too afraid of pissing people off to talk about it.

Glory Hole Records?

I think Relapse is okay, they need to promote their shit better.

Suffocation kills about 90% of death metal bands.
