I have a question. We (BoE) used to have a full web site. We paid for hosting as well as the ownership of the domain. About a year ago we ditched the full site and just had traffic going to the domain name redirect to our myspace page. Doug did all this and up until a few weeks ago he was still paying for web hosting for some other sites he had. He just ditched the hosting though and gave me the auth code to transfer the domain over to me. I talked to the same hosting company we were dealing with before about just doing the same redirection shit again, but under my name. However, they're saying they don't offer the redirection service without first buying hosting from them. (Their reasoning for this is that supposedly they need to host DNS in order to do the redirection and they don't do that without buying full hosting from them).

Any of you homeslices know what I'd need to do to get my domain to redirect to the myspace URL? Can I do this somehow just by registering the domain somewhere or do I have to find and sign up for some fancy redirection feature with some company. I've never personally owned a domain before and have always assumed that you just plug in the actual IP of the web server with the registrar (which wouldn't work with the myspace shit). I don't know if the domain registrars have any redirection tricks up their sleeves.

Any help would be much appreciated. I will love you long time.

I'm just trying to redirect http://www.baneofexistence.com over to http://www.myspace.com/boemetal we were doing it before but Mr. Doug ditched his hosting.

What is needed for that stuff anyway? Is it just DNS? I just don't get how having a hosting company personally host your DNS info magically makes your site redirect to a full URL instead of just translating domains to IPs.

it's just URL forwarding. Yahoo.com will do it for $2.75 dollars for the first year. You don't need to buy hosting.

Cool. I'll have to take a peak at that then. Does the domain have to be registered with whoever's doing the forwarding?

I'm asking my host about it. All you would have to do is update the register with the new name server addresses.

Tis back up. Godaddy does forwarding for free.

Thanks for all the advice though homies.
