GEAR.RttP{Cymbals for Sale...}

Here’s the list of stuff that’s battered, but still useful. I’ll describe the defects as best I can, so hopefully I won’t have to take pictures…

10” Sabian XS20 Splash, 2 ½” with a crack inside, running along the bell, looks like hell, but it plays well and was on the kit right up until I bought the new shit. Kinda has a trashy sound to it. $10

12” Zildjian A Custom Splash with three ½” cracks along the outside edge, still has a great sound and projects well. $15

12” Sabian Splash, label’s been worn off completely so I can’t be sure what series/model it is. Very thin cymbal with some little nicks & dings, as well as 3 cracks on the outside rim, two are about ¼”, one closer to ½". Along the mount opening, there are several minor cracks, but stick it on a rubber mount and it’ll work fine. Very thin, so with the cracks it sounds very trashy, but it still has good sustain and can still be heard. $10

12” Sabian AAX Mini-Chinese with a 3 ½” crack along the bend between the edge & ride area. You’d think a 3 ½” crack would sound like shit, but surprisingly it doesn’t. I've taken it off my kit three times, so I liked it enough to add it back on there twice. It kills the sustain, so this would be used as an accent cymbal, really trashy & fast attack, but it doesn’t last long. $15

And here’s the not good, not even good enough to be called bad, but seriously ugly…

13” Sabian AASomething-or-other. This has a massive crack that’s been drilled twice, and it’s still spreading. Good for adding to a trash stack if you like aggro sounds, but otherwise only useful as scrap metal.

14” ZBT Hi-hat top. Yes, the twin from the aforementioned ZBT bottom that I used as a left hand ride. It looks like a retarded shark has taken a bite out of it. If you buy the bottom, and are a glutton for punishment, hell, I’ll send you this for shits & giggles. Maybe, if you have the hookups, you could get someone to machine it down to 10 or 12” for a nice clangy sounding effect cymbal, or way down to 6” for a bell sound.

16” Zildjian A Custom Fast Crash. Another cymbal that looks as if someone got hungry for metal, literally. It doesn’t sound bad at all, in fact it sounds great considering it’s missing a chunk for fuck’s sake. I would say it’s great for a practice kit, but use el cheapo sticks, the sharpened corners of the missing chunk will shred sticks.

18” Sabian B8Pro China. This cymbal was a piece of shit when I bought it, much less after I cracked the fuck out of it. There’s literally a 6” crack through the diameter, from the edge almost to the bottom of the bell. Yes, one third of the diameter. It sounds like crap, looks like crap and should only be used in conjunction with other fucked up cymbals to reproduce that wet boot hitting a trash can lid sound.

18” Zildjian A Custom Crash, not sure which, medium maybe? This is another one that sounds pretty good, but has a chunk missing along the edge, maybe 1” deep and 3-4” long. The crack is still spreading, but drilling it would help. I say this cymbal’s fine for practice kits, but again, not worthy of a show.

And finally 18” Zildjian Z Custom Rock Crash. This thing is heavy and looks like it got stabbed, twice, sporting a pair of matching 3” cracks along the ride area that met happily one day. The cracks have been drilled on opposite ends and in between them where a chunk was lost, maybe the size of a dime. Another beater, but it’s got a decent bell sound.
