just started playing it. I made the mistake of attacking someone in a town.. oopies!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 30,2007 6:04pm
I hope when I turn it on again, the people don't want to kill me.

toggletoggle post by boine at Mar 30,2007 6:10pm
get arrested for it and stealing get an invite to thieves guild then you can just pay bountys off

toggletoggle post by xanonymousx at Mar 30,2007 6:16pm

looks great.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 30,2007 6:26pm
but I don't want to loose all my stolen junk!

toggletoggle post by boine at Mar 30,2007 6:40pm
ya im not sure if they fixed the glitches but you used to be able just hide it in a barrel in town then go back and pick it up, murdering gets you invite to dark brother hood and stealing thieves guild

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 30,2007 6:50pm
I'm going to have to try that. I've just started running and jumped in a lake. I'm a Rogue.

toggletoggle post by boine at Mar 30,2007 6:50pm
could purchase a dwelling also and just hide it in your home

toggletoggle post by boine at Mar 30,2007 6:52pm
ya jump alot so your good at it later on same thing goes for spells just keep using them

toggletoggle post by ArrowHead NLI at Mar 30,2007 10:14pm
This game is supposed to be awesome. I want it, but I'm waiting til after I build my new computer so I can really crank the shit out of the graphics. Also, I'm pretty sure the expansion isn't available for the console versions, just the PC.

toggletoggle post by boine at Mar 31,2007 12:41am
no its on the 360 to you can download it off of live its amazing visually and gameplay

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 31,2007 1:43am
I had already noticed the jumping thing and was doing it. I just jumped and died, but my skill level went up!

toggletoggle post by boine at Mar 31,2007 1:45pm
ya running, jumping, spells just do that shit all the time and you will get better at it

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 8,2007 10:37pm
Io'm trying to get into this game

toggletoggle post by boine (nli) at Apr 8,2007 10:52pm
its great it takes awhile to get into but just walk around and go through dungeons and ruins once you get like a good 20 hours in it gets great, there is just so much to do and see

toggletoggle post by babyshaker nli at Apr 9,2007 9:33am
dude fucking boine ruined my life showing me these games...this game makes me not sleep for weeks at a time ahahah

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 9,2007 9:34am
It's a weird game.. I keep getting more and more little quests. then I run into some bandits.

toggletoggle post by Kinslayer at Apr 9,2007 10:43am
I worship this game. I need to get xbox 360 just to devote my life to Oblivion until I beat it and then sell it...

toggletoggle post by boine at Apr 9,2007 1:33pm
do the little quest cause some times people die on you and later on your quest log is just absurd and will take forever to clear out

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 14,2007 9:56pm
I went to a dungeon and was killing zombies, but don't know why or what I'm doing. I keep getting my ass wiped by the zombies if I try to attack more than one of them. I'm thinking I'm just going to leave this dungeon and go back outside.. but I fought my way down 3 levels into it.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 14,2007 10:01pm
King of Miscarcand, thats how starts fighting me once i grab a stone and then I die.

toggletoggle post by fleshfries at Jun 14,2007 10:04pm
that game took a fair chunk of my life.....cept im a pc player

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 14,2007 11:00pm
some dungeons are just there to get random rings or different weapon sets, have you got the wabberjack yet?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 14,2007 11:04pm
nope. I havent gotten much of anything. I've passed one quest.

toggletoggle post by MikePile at Jun 14,2007 11:15pm
is there fishing skill, and some sort of fantastic prize of becoming a grandmaster fisherman? maybe some sort of squid/fish costume bodysuit or a special whistle that when blown summons delicious fish to fight alongside you? I need to know this ASAP

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 14,2007 11:16pm
just watch out for vampires in caves it sucks becoming one real early on and just find a guild and do work for them good way to level and get equipment

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 14,2007 11:32pm
you also gotta play for like 20-30 hours and then it will start to pick up

ES III: Morrowind is a game I still turn on from time to time after about 7 years. Oblivion was a game I grew bored with after about 7 weeks. Another modern game that emphasizes too much on being realistic, and not at all on being fun. If I wanted to see shadows and watch leaves fall from trees I could just turn on my front yard. It's cheaper and less time consuming.

toggletoggle post by DestroyYouAlot  at Jun 15,2007 7:26am
Morrowind wrecks my life every time I start playing again; there's so much crap to do, it's absurd. I'm playing through right now with the expansions installed for the first time, with a sneaky, swordfighting spellcaster d00d. (Medium and light armor, light and heavy blades, acrobatics, alteration and enchantment, etc.)

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 15,2007 7:47am
I fell a sleep for like the 10th time playing this game. I like stories that pull you forward a little bit more. it's taking a lot to adjust to such and open game.

Yeah, if it's anything like Morrowind, you pretty much have to set your own goals... It definitely takes some getting used to. You kinda have to go out and grab the world by the balls, it isn't going to seek you out. 'Course, compared to the railroad fests that pass for most modern RPGs, it's a nice change.

Y'know, I've easily logged over 100 hours in Morrowind, with a few different characters - easily. And I've probably seen about half the island, and I've never even touched three quarters of the faction quests. That's not even counting the expansions. FUCKING HUGE. Especially compared to, say, Neverwinter Nights, which I finished in probably 60 hours, and that's mining the SHIT out of every last minute of gameplay I could find.

toggletoggle post by SinisterMinister at Jun 16,2007 11:15am
you have to go through it.
You want some good advice, kill some random fool-ass bitch and go to sleep, you'll get invited to the assassin's guild, and some sick armor.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 16,2007 11:19am
but when I got through it, nothing happens.

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 16,2007 11:53am

do I want to harvest every plant?

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 17,2007 11:36pm edited Jun 17,2007 11:37pm
yes also when you walk constantly jump or sneak shoot/use different magics, repairing items, lock picking and so forth all raise skills, i forget what the skill is for plant picking is but you get better at something so its worth it

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 17,2007 11:38pm
plus you can combine them with alchemy and sell them for a bunch of loot

toggletoggle post by DestroyYouAlot  at Jun 18,2007 8:44am
When you get the in-game prostitutes, make sure your unarmed skill is up, or you won't be able to execute the donkey punch.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 20,2007 11:43pm
I don't get how to tell how powerful weapons are, how to repair them, how strong armor is, etc... any hints?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 21,2007 12:15am
why does it say that my spells are only 88% effective?

that sucks buy your self the ghetto crib and it wont disappear

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 23,2007 1:43am
how do I do that?
I think I need to figure out a way to get more gold quicker.

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 23,2007 1:46am edited Jun 23,2007 1:47am
the duplication glitch and alchemy are the best ways, and cheapest house is the one in imperial city, some lady there will sell it to you, might have to convince to like you Office of Imperial Commerce (Market District).
To duplicate your items in the PS3 version of Oblivion do the following:
1) Get two magic scrolls of the same type.
- The scrolls must NOT be stolen
2) Click on the scroll twice.
3) Then drop the item from your inventory that you want duped.
4) Exit inventory and collect your items.
Notes:
- Certain weapons and armor won't work
- The health of the item must be 100 (Get it repaired by an NPC just to be safe)
- The charge on a magical item must be full
i just got this for the PS3 looks better then the 360 one
amount of scrolls is how many are duplicated

Or just kill the right people.

I haven't played this yet, I'm short the $50-$80 it'll cost me for the game, and all the expansion packs.

However, in most rpg games you need to grind for gold. Most of these games set it up so that if you go at the pace that the game/quests you're doing you'll be pretty broke. This goes for games like WoW, EQ, Elder Scrolls, even back to the old Ultima games.

Just spend a few hours ignoring quests and just killing mobs, collecting herbs, etc... and you should be able to get yourself pretty ahead financially.

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 23,2007 1:12pm
people dont carry alot of gold and if they do and its early on you get your ass kicked money was a lot more challenging in this one then the other ES, stealing stuff and selling it to the thieves guild is effective

toggletoggle post by xanonymousx at Jun 23,2007 2:20pm
i think i'm going to get an xbox this and gears of war.
even though i want to play mgs4.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 23,2007 2:29pm
I'm going home to do the plant thing. last night I finally figured out how to pick locks.

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 23,2007 2:33pm
have you joined any guilds yet?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 23,2007 3:32pm
no, I want to hide my stuff and get arrested in whatever town it was that I got arrested in and then in jail got an offer to join the thieves guild. which guild should I join?

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 23,2007 4:02pm
join them all you can become leader of every guild

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 23,2007 5:08pm
hm.. good idea... I keep getting stuck in glitches

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 23,2007 5:43pm
where/how do I sell things?
I just found the "barter" thing.. is it in there?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 23,2007 5:49pm
ok, I figured it out.
wow.. they will buy a lot of the things I stole too!
I need to find someone to buy potions now.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 23,2007 7:24pm
I also need to get better at killing things.

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 23,2007 8:24pm
well the only way to get better at killing things is by just hitting people with a sword alot, and for potions someone in the imperial city will, make sure you keep your minor skills up with major skills also

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 23,2007 10:51pm
it talks a lot about "power shots" and holding down the button...

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 23,2007 11:19pm
hold and run at them you can stab people and as your sword skill gets higher if you hold a direction well power hitting can disarm or knock back

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 24,2007 12:31am
what is power hitting?

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 24,2007 12:42am
just hold attack you charge i forget what they call it and every 25 skill points you get for that weapon you get a little special attack

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 24,2007 12:50am
have you come across the unicorn guarded by minotaurs?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 24,2007 1:23am
nope. I keep coming across mages of something with scamps. I have to run and heal while running in circles to avoid them. once I run enough the 2 scamps stay behind and I kill the mage and them go back and kill the scamps one at a time. I'm only on level 3 I think. I want to find some better magic.

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 24,2007 1:36am
join the mages guild

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 24,2007 1:43am
you can make staffs that shoot lighting and fireballs

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 24,2007 1:45am
how? I need to go to jail so that soilders stop fighting me. I stay out of cities cause of that.

toggletoggle post by boine at Jun 24,2007 1:48am
you have to take a test to get in like a small quest from all the guild leaders in each town then you join the guild in the city and like your first mission is building your staff, and if not already in get caught join thiefs guild, then go to the ghetto water front in the city at midnight and can pay bounty off

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 24,2007 4:08am
I got an invite to the thives guild.
what are the welkynd stones for?

No retarded grinds, no pointless guild 40 man raiding, pvp, pvp, more pvp, best quest system ever (including gigantic area wide raid quests with rewards based on participation), and pvp.

Also, did I mention that there is going to be a shit-ton of PVP?

I finally broke down and got this. I've got 4 days left of my vacation, just got a bag, and figured "why not?".

So far the game is fun, but all the fucking choices is a little overwhelming at first. In the first hour I gotta pick my class, the star I was born under (or something), etc....

The graphics are awesome. Seeing the grass blowing in the wind in the intro, and the scene with the bad guys coming through those flaming doors with the battering ram was awesome.

My only peeve now is when I talk to people, I like to practice my speechcraft and max out my influence with people to raise my skill. Sometimes, it takes like 5 tries to get all the way up, but I gotta listen to the same 4 stupid lines of dialog. "That's a good one!" "You can't scare me" etc...

Also, I'm so used to WoW, where you could go to a bar, and there were free beds upstairs you could walk up and lie in. I went to the bar looking for a bed, went upstairs, picked the lock, and went to sleep. I did this like 4 times and couldn't understand why I kept getting arrested. Finally I realized I was breaking into the bartender's bedroom and sleeping in his bed.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 29,2007 12:12pm

the best is if you go into peoples houses and dont even steal stuff just throw it around they call the guards on you, but kill some hobos and get arrested get in the dark brother hood, and defiantly download the wizards tower or the vampire cave both places to keep stuff in so it dont disappear and watch out for vampires early on in the game it sucks to be one

I joined the Dark Brotherhood last night. Finished a couple quests for them and got some cool looking armor. My Charachter is a dark elf, and somehow he ended up looking EXACTLY like the older brother from "Everybody Loves Raymond". I also Joined the thieves guild, but after my first 1000G blood penalty I don't know if I'm going to stay in if I get any more of those. I did a couple jobs, got that statue thing and framed that elf chick, and now I'm looking for the quest for the skeleton key.

I'm trying to join the mages guid next.

For money, I've been cleaning out all the stores in town at like 2 a.m., then selling it all to the fence. I had like 3 grand til that stupid "Blood Penalty".

toggletoggle post by ArrowHead is watching you at Jun 30,2007 9:25pm
Is it smarter to join all the guilds at once, or go through them one at a time?

i did all at once and just did whatever i wanted they dont effect each other like in ES3

I had a tauren Shaman. I was at level 68 or so when I quit. I was in a raiding guild and was working toward getting up to end game again. Then my whole guild got mad at me because I said my character looked like a "guido". At this point, I realized the game was irrepairably gay, and I haven't played since.

I did, however, have the sickest UI ever to exist in World of Warcraft. I spent like 6 months doing nothing but tweaking it.

Being able to customize the interface was probably the coolest thing about WoW.

I've seen mods out there for oblivion, but I'm still learning my way around the game. Eventually I'll probably try a few.

When Warhammer online comes out, supposedly they're going to use .LUA and allow user made addons just like WoW. Should be pretty cool.

Whatever you do, don't kill ANYONE while you're on a thieves guild quest. If you have a thieves guild quest set as your main quest and you kill someone, you get booted from the guild and have to pay 1000G to get back in.

I'm not sure if you're supposed to do this, but I found that if you go into town while people are sleeping and break into the stores you can clean out their whole inventory and sell for some really good money. However, I've noticed that the stuff stays gone, so once you clean out the shop it stays empty. I made about 1500G cleaning out the hammer and axe shop in Brumil(sp?) - the town with the first fence you get.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 2,2007 3:11pm
it's bruma.

I'm lost in a fort now, but i just got to level 4

toggletoggle post by boine at Jul 2,2007 3:57pm
thats an easy way your best equipment will come from enchanting it or using sigil stones, also how did you make money for your mount in WoW just the AH?

toggletoggle post by ArrowHead is watching you at Jul 2,2007 4:06pm
I was way behind with my mount, all my money got soaked from raiding. Pots and repairs for raids were costing me about 40G+ per raid.

I didn't even have my epic mount yet, but I had purchased the skill. I had about 1000G saved towards my epic mount/skill.

In the expansion, it's pretty easy to make money. Once you hit 70, you can cycle through the daily quests pretty quick and make some good money. Also, elementals sell for big bucks on the AH, so grinding elementals is good too. Unfortunately, that game is nothing but grinding. I look back now and realize I didn't really have any fun, or sense of adventure since the earliest levels. When Battlegrounds were first introduced I twinked out at level 29 and did nothing but PVP for maybe 8 months. Even that got old and needlessly screwed up by blizzard's constant changes.

toggletoggle post by boine at Jul 4,2007 11:43am

toggletoggle post by ArrowHead is watching you at Jul 4,2007 6:45pm
There's a shack you can buy in the waterfront district of imperial city, right next door to the thief guild guys house. 2000 gold. After that, pay around 700 gold at the three brothers' store to get the storage furniture package. It'll give you a chest and two dressers to keep all your shit in.

It's a good start. I'm 80% done with my self made quest to rob every single store in the merchant district of all their stuff. It's awesome, my dressers are packed with shit, and when I go into any of the stores during the day all the stuff is gone, and the proprietors seem clueless they were robbed ... hehe

be careful with this game. i avoided everything real in life just to play, and put near 190 hours in about a month and a half period. i had to stop cold turkey before i lost my girlfriend. it was easier to stop once i finished the main quest, though, i put it off for ever just so i'd be high level when it came around and it was incredibly depressing. the story is weak compared to morrowind, but the gameplay is so consuming it's all that matters.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHead likes Pie at Jul 25,2007 6:44pm
To be honest, I have yet to really find any.

Where's some good sites to find mods?

toggletoggle post by Dar  at Jul 27,2007 5:30am
The Elder Scrolls Source and Planet Elder Scrolls host them all. As far as finding guides to good ones and stuff like that, I don't know...I found this website http://devnull.devakm.googlepages.com/ which has a lot of information. I jumped right in and got the FCOM: Convergence thing to work, took a little tinkering and I've encountered a few minor issues but nothing big. It's pretty awesome, makes the game a lot more challenging and immersive IMO. You're level 2 and walking around outside and all of a sudden a hill giant pops out and you spend the next 30 minutes trying to lose the fucker cuz he'll cream you in 1 shot, reminds me of the panic I experienced playing Daggerfall when I was like 9 years old :P

toggletoggle post by ArrowHead likes Pie at Jul 27,2007 9:05pm
Problem is, the plain old vanilla game is so full of fucking bugs and crashes as it is. I'm afraid it might get worse if I install any mods.

Speaking of crashes, if you're playing the PC version have you had any problems with the game crashing randomly? It usually happens to me when I'm going through a door, or when I finish talking to someone. I've done tons of internet searches, and found no real solution. Just ways to make it a little less frequent.

toggletoggle post by Dar  at Jul 27,2007 11:57pm
Yeah, I have problems with it crashing sometimes. The mods haven't made it worse--the only errors are sometimes I pick up an item that doesn't display the graphic properly, but I just ditch it and it's ok. I crash whenever I zone into an area sometimes. I grew up on Elder Scrolls, though, and it's always been that way. Half the challenge in Daggerfall came because if you forgot to save for 30 minutes, the game could just crash any moment. It's kind of just become part of the experience for me, and I habitually mash quicksave every 5 minutes and remember to make a new save slot every day or two cuz they often get corrupted. I don't think there is much else you can do. If you're running the latest official patch, there is an "unofficial patch" that modders released to help with stability--if you go to the sites I mentioned I'm sure you can find it. That may help.
As much as I love Bethesda and their games, I really hope they manage to make Fallout 3 a little more stable so that it has a broader appeal and gets them fat sacks of cash. IMO, if they can make it stable...it will be absolutely incredible

toggletoggle post by ArrowHead likes Pie at Jul 27,2007 11:59pm

as long as you eat everyday you can go out in sun and you get a lot stronger but you can go to skingrad or whatever it is and cure it, there might not be anything to show you got it, its been so long plus once you get it once dont get it again cause im almost positive only one cure one time

Just bought this again for PC a couple weeks back. Playing it through for the second time.

There are a TON of great mods for this game. Textures upgrades, lighting and weather upgrades and so many other immersive mods. It looks and plays amazing.
